Ottoman reupholstered with Fox Linton fabric from
The brief from my client was for this Ottoman to go into a formal(ish) blue sitting room. With help from Amy we found the perfect fabric 💙.
Swipe to see how it looked before 🫠… because the fabric had a bold pattern we decided not to keep the button detail. After unpicking the original fabric and removing all the staples 😩 I used new foam and polyester before adding the new fabric. We found a blue fabric to match and I used it to make up the trim. Then I added some more padding and the skirt.
I might not have all the correct technical terms but with help from the brilliant Lisa .up I am delighted with the result!

My new bench seat… 🙌🏼…

I bought this from IKEA a couple of years ago to add a bit of spare seating to the kitchen. In January (2024) I stained the pale wood to blend with the other furniture better. Swipe to see how it was originally.

And now I’ve added a padded seat to really finish it off. The fabric is from and I only needed 1/2metre so it was really affordable (£17.50 😉).

Some personal events recently have been a good reminder to live for the moment. The kids and chores can wait. I’ve been thinking about doing an upholstery course for ages so I decided to take the plunge.

I’ve just finished my second day of the course and although it very busy it’s also weirdly relaxing. I’m loving it!

In just 2 days (10am - 4pm) Lisa has taught me how to make this ottoman from scratch and I’m so proud of it. I thought it was going to take the full 6 weeks so now everything in the house is a potential target 🤣🤣.

The fabric is from who save fabric from landfill and the lovely Amy from her office helped me choose a fabric that would work in our sitting room.

I love it… what do you think?

Bespoke Bookshelf 🩵

I am finally getting around to finishing off the last few pieces in my son’s bedroom.

I bought this bookcase from FB marketplace because I thought it was about the right shape and size. It wasn’t quite right 😬 so I had to buy extra panels and my carpenter basically remade it. Also I ran out of the leftover paint halfway through so had to order some more.

First I primed it with Zinzer Bin 1-2-3 and then painted the inside in Farrow and Ball Vardo and the outside in Blue Ground.

So… a lot more expensive than I had planned (I’m not going to add it up 🙈) but thankfully I’m really pleased with the end result. And my son likes it too 😅.

Well this is a bit exciting….
Announcing the start of a new little venture for my workshop space! The lovely Rhiannon and Natasha have launched a company Bobbin and Brush Studio and they will hosting creative sessions from my workshop. After a couple of brilliant trial events making a beautiful make up bag and then painting a lovely textured landscape they are ready to go!

Thank you to for these lovely photos of the bedside tables I painted for her spare bedroom.

They had been in the room for a long time but were white and needed a refresh to go with her new Green 2 walls. They are now painted in Annie Sloan French Linen and the inside is Antoinette. It needed a good sanding first, 2 coats of paint and a it’s been sealed with clear wax.

I’ve also included a close up of the gorgeous lamp and pot from lovely small businesses and 😍

This IKEA Kallax unit started as the white unit we all know…

It was the very high gloss one and to be honest I wouldn’t probably recommend painting it but my friend was going to get rid of it so we thought we’d give it a go. She was after a unit for drinks in her sitting room so we matched it to a sideboard I’d painted for her a couple of years ago.

We did a coat of primer then lots of coats of Farrow and Ball Black Blue

The inserts needed 3 coats on each side and 24hrs to dry on each side. When we tried to put them back in they didn’t fit because of the layers of paint so they been ditched 🙈.

I have to say I think the end result looks great in her room… it was definitely worth a try. Hopefully it will stand the test of time 🤞🏼

We bought this little bench seat from before Christmas for some extra seating…
A month later I’be finally got around to helping it blend in… 2 coats of wood stain and a coat of osmo oil and it’s looking a lot less IKEA.
I wish I’d done it a month ago 🙈. What do you think?

Bedside tables ready for Christmas guests in my clients spare room!

They have been sanded back then painted in 2 coats of Annie Sloan Antoinette on the inside and 2 coats of French Linen on the outside. The whole piece has been sealed with clear wax. Swipe to see how they looked before…

Apologies that the photos aren’t great but I was meeting my client at IKEA after the school run so as you can imagine I was keen to get going 😉.
