I'M REALLY PLEASED THAT A NEW GROUP IS STARTING IN NEWENT FOR PEOPLE WITH CONCERNS ABOUT THEIR EYESIGHT.
Insight, a Gloucestershire-wide charity is starting a group TOMORROW MORNING (Friday Sept 11th) from 10 - 12noon at The Chill Out. I shall be going along at the start to welcome the organisers and say hello to anyone who drops in.
Please tell friends and relatives who may not see this post about the group, if you think they might benefit from advice and information about any eye condition that cannot be fixed with prescription glasses. There is a huge amount of equipment and technology available these days that can help a lot and there is no need for anyone to feel alone with their concerns. This is what Insight has to say:
We're pleased to be opening a new monthly Community Sight Loss Hub in Newent this September, offering local advice and support for people in the Forest of Dean with eyesight problems..
Our Sight Loss Advisor will be there to answer questions, offer practical advice and help you explore the support available. We're also hoping to build a friendly social group, so you're very welcome to stay for a cuppa and a chat and meet other people locally.
Our first hub will be:
Friday 11 September, 10am–12pm
The Chill Out Zone, 36 Broad Street, Newent GL18 1AJ
After that, we'll be there on the second Friday of every month.
• Drop-in advice: 10am–11am
• Social group: 10am–12pm
• Appointment: 11am – please contact us to book
The Chill Out Zone is on the main street next to the library, opposite the Co-op, with a zebra crossing just outside. Local transport options include The Robin, the Daffodil Line (232) and Dial-a-Ride.
