An old fireplace mantel from a childhood home reworked into a rustic floating shelf. Very sentimental item for the client so was very cautious! Had to remove quite a bit of rot but left with a lovely old bit of pine. Shaped with flap discs and finished with a combo of Walnut and Dark oak from

Children's bookcase made from MDF. Went for the paint splatter effect for the sides then some of our new colour palette for the shelves. Really happy with how it turned out and a lovely sheen from some polyeruthane varnish.

Nice bit of framing today, existing frame smashed to smithereens unfortunately. Door blank sitting on the bench ready for routing tomorrow. Fire door so will be having 4 coats of fire guard... Can't wait.

Custom made floor box for our classical department. Idea is the cellist sits on with a chair, the matting is for the spike and the trim so they don't slide off in the throws of passion. The matting is only temporarily fixed with the idea it can be replaced throughout its lifespan. Lovely project but not looking forward to seeing it in the future once it's had a bit of a battering.

Little cosmic laptop stand made from MDF offcuts. Was a prototype but I think I'll just keep this one for myself. Bit of a sore arm from the paint flicking but these are the sacrifices we must make.

Set of shelves made with birch ply for one of our offices. Few strategically rounded corners with the router for a nice smooth finish. Much to my disdain, finished in satin white to match the existing decor. Love a little shelf project.

The most beautiful custom sheath for my swiss army knife made by my magnificent padre

Couldn't let sleeping dogs lie so made a little bit holder for my little rasp set. Was a pain marking up the already carved edge but I'm happy with the result. Planed a slight bevel on the edges for a bit of a frame.

TEXTURE.

Couple of offcuts of oak that I've been messing around with. Bought some rasp bits for the Dremel to try and give carving a go. Pretty happy with the results, love the texture and feel.

This might be a terrible idea but I'm very tempted to sand down an old electric guitar and try this effect on the body.

Finished with ebony wood dye and the larger piece with a smidge of Danish oil.

Two finished sound trolleys, painted Matt black. Body and doors made with ply, top made using MDF.

Time consuming to say the least but a nice project to keep coming back to in between jobs.

Finished with a padlock and latch, not the prettiest but I don't make the rules!

Well it's been a while.

I've recently started a new job at a large venue on the Tyne in the building services department, hence the radio silence. This is one of a pair of large cabinet trolleys for carting sound equipment round.

Great finally working in a workshop that has a roof, doesn't have grass as the floor and all the gear and tools I could ever want for.

Watch this space for more projects in a large music venue!

Pine sleeper bench made from a railway sleeper offcut and a 4x4 fence post.

Preserved using yakisugi, a Japanese wood burning technique, and finished using Bartoline boiled linseed oil.

Absolute passion project, a labour of love and incredibly happy with how it turned out.
