💜 Burnout whispers before it shouts.

At this month’s Walk & Talk networking event, we explored burnout awareness and the importance of protecting our energy while building our businesses.

One of the biggest conversations was around recognising when certain clients, commitments or ways of working are no longer sustainable.

Sometimes the strongest thing we can do is pause and ask:

✨ What’s draining my energy?
✨ What feels unsustainable?
✨ What small change would support me right now?

Success should never come at the cost of your wellbeing.

“What gets scheduled gets done.” — Michael Hyatt

If it only lives on your to-do list, there’s a good chance it keeps getting pushed back.

The important work — strategy, content creation, planning, business development — is often the first thing sacrificed when the day gets busy.

That’s where calendar blocking can make a huge difference.

Instead of hoping you’ll “find time,” you intentionally create it.

Time for focused work.
Time for admin.
Time for breaks.
Time for the things that actually move your business forward.

Your calendar shouldn’t just hold meetings for other people.

It should protect time for you and your priorities too.

Because when you schedule what matters, you’re far more likely to make progress on it.

🗓️✨

You’re Allowed to Be Proud
Take a moment to look back at how far you’ve come.

Running a business takes courage, resilience and persistence.

That deserves recognition — even if it’s just from you.

There’s been a theme running through everything lately — our Walk & Talk, my recent newsletter, and the conversations I’ve been having with so many women in business…

We’re often doing more than we realise.

But because we don’t always stop to notice it, it can feel like we’re not moving forward.

At the Walk & Talk, when we explored Wins & Leverage, this came up so clearly.
So many incredible women found it hard to name a win — and even harder to see how to build on it.

And yet, those wins are where momentum begins.

This short video by Jacob Godar is a really simple, powerful reminder of that — how small wins, repeated over time, create real progress. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIuaTVEFXX4

Not by doing more…
but by building on what’s already working.

If this resonates, I’ve shared more about this (and how to start recognising and leveraging your wins) in my latest blog:

And if you’d like a space to explore this in a more supportive, reflective way, this is exactly what we do at the Walk & Talk 💛

There are some people in life who quietly make a huge difference—not just through their talent, but through their kindness, loyalty, and the way they show up for others. Yvonne is one of those very special people.

I have known Yvonne for many years and feel incredibly grateful to have her in my life and community. Not only is she an exceptionally talented artist, creating beautiful sketches, watercolours, cards, and artwork inspired by nature and local landscapes, but she is also an amazing interior designer with years of experience transforming spaces with creativity and vision.

What inspires me most about Yvonne, though, is her heart.

Despite having a very busy life and limited time, she is always there supporting other people, encouraging others, and helping whenever she can. From the very beginning of my Walk & Talk networking group in the Okehampton area, years ago, Yvonne has been one of my biggest supporters— travelling all the way from Bude just to attend sessions. That level of dedication, kindness, and commitment says everything about the person she is.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Yvonne a few times over the years, and every experience has been wonderful. Even with all of her talent and experience, she remains so humble, thoughtful, wise, and grounded. She has supported me through thick and thin, and I honestly can’t express how much that has meant to me.

People like Yvonne remind us that success is not just about what we achieve—it’s about how we make others feel along the way.

If you are looking for beautiful artwork, cards, or prints full of creativity and soul, please take a look at her page:

Thank you, Yvonne, for your friendship, support, wisdom, and encouragement over the years. You are such an important part of this community and an inspiration to so many people ✨

Why Systems Matter (Without the Overwhelm)

When people hear “systems” in business, it can feel overwhelming.

But a system doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes it’s simply:
👉 noticing something worked
👉 writing down what you did
👉 doing it again (a little more intentionally)

That’s it.

Systems are just a way of making things easier for your future self.

And when you start creating them from your wins, they feel natural — not forced.

Less pressure. More flow.

I’ve shared simple ways to start doing this in my latest blog:

“Lose an hour in the morning, and you will spend all day looking for it.” — Richard Whately

How you start your morning often shapes the rest of your day.

Rushing straight into emails.
Checking notifications before you’ve even had a moment to think.
Starting the day already feeling behind.

It’s hard to feel focused when your morning begins in chaos.

A morning routine doesn’t need to be perfect or complicated.

Sometimes it’s simply:
☕ A quiet coffee before the laptop opens
📝 Reviewing your priorities for the day
🚶 A short walk or moment of movement
📵 Creating space before the noise begins

Those small habits can make a huge difference to your focus, energy, and productivity.

Because when your morning feels intentional…
the rest of the day often follows.

Space to Think
Some of the best ideas don’t come while you’re working — they come when you step away.

A walk, a cup of tea, a quiet moment…
That’s thinking time, not wasted time.

Wins → Habits & Systems (BJ Fogg)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GneKvncCoDU BJ Fogg - How Celebrating Small Wins Can Help Form a Lasting Habit

When people hear “systems” in business, it can feel overwhelming.

But a system doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes it’s simply:
👉 noticing something worked
👉 understanding why
👉 doing it again (a little more intentionally)

That’s it.

Systems are just a way of making things easier for your future self.

BJ Fogg explains this beautifully through habit-building — small successes naturally turn into repeatable behaviours over time.

This is exactly the kind of thing we explore at the Walk & Talk — in a way that feels simple, not overwhelming.

Next one is on 9th May if you’d like to join us 💛
