Special announcement for ✨TONIGHT✨

S*xpression is partnering with .mcr for their special event Tonight at XLR.

Look out for the contraception fairies (our volunteers!) who will have an abundance of contraception, l**e and advice for anyone who needs it 🧚🏼‍♀️🧚‍♂️🧚🏼‍♀️

Haven are back for the second time this year to raise money for and promote a safe night out for women and nonbinary people.

Tickets are £6 for women and nonbinary people, with cis men being asked to make an extra donation with their ticket.

💅 Drink cap tops will be available at the bar.
💅 Gender neutral toilets.
💅 XLR staff has received special training to respond to reported incidents of spiking to make sure everyone feels safe.
💅 stewards around the club to provide additional support.

Access:
XLR is a small venue that is currently only accessible down a flight of stairs. The night will be very busy, most likely with haze and flashing lights.

If you’re able to, please come along for a chat and to support local emerging artists and organisations who are tackling gender based violence in Manchester 💪

Update & Announcement!

We’re sorry for the radio silence since the start of this semester. We’re still here and about to get going with our s*x positive agenda!

We’re pleased to be able to say that S*xpression Manchester is bouncing back since covid which severely impacted our ability to train new volunteers for in-person S*x Ed.

We’re hoping to get lots of new volunteers this year so please reach out if you’re interested! They’ll be a chance to meet everyone soon before we announce our volunteer training date for those who’d like to teach RSE (relationships and s*x education) in schools.

Committee introductions are coming soon, and in the meantime we’re voting on our new chairs which will be a joint position.

Bronwen (she/her) who’s been voted as our Treasurer and Events officer has put her name forward, plus Lily whose been our S*xual Health officer have agreed to put themselves forward.

Hello everyone, Not On My Campus UK is holding a National Convention later this month (27th June - 1st July) with 20 free sessions aimed at ups killing and supporting student leaders, committees and activists to tackle s*xual violence on your own campuses.

Not On My Campus UK is a student and alumni-led Intersectional feminist collective working with and supporting student leaders, victims, survivors and activists working to tackle s*xual violence on their campuses.

Organisations running the sessions include: Galop, Can't Buy My Silence, Support for Student S*x Workers, Our Streets Now, EmilyTest, The Angelou Centre, Beyond Equality, Disabled Students UK, National Ugly Mugs & Disabled Survivors Unite.

Manchester University of Law Society and Trans Action Legal Network presents “The Trans and Non-Binary Experience in the Workplace and the Importance of Allies”

The panel features several members from the LGBTQ+ community who are sharing their experiences in the workplace.

Expect discussions on on the importance of being an ally and having allies, so folks who do not identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community are equally welcome!

Urban Angels Manchester is having its first meeting tonight at the Hive. If you would like to share any ideas in how we can make Manchester a safer place for us all, or just ask any questions, please come along!

Urban Angels is a new online page set up to promote safety of all those who identify as a woman or non-binary in Manchester. So far, it's grown to almost 500 members and offers itself as a safe space to share alerts, tips and experiences in Manchester. It also encourages groups, events and information to be shared that will benefit the community. 🙂
