Today marks one year since our move from the original workshop in the Dyfi forest, to our custom built workshop 4 miles down the road.

We are delighted to now welcome clients for workshop visits. Please get in touch to arrange, and meet the team - including our founder - and experience the craftsmanship behind our saunas.

Everything happens under one roof, with our office and workshop teams working side by side. Keeping both the design and construction process in-house is a key value of ours, ensuring direct involvement at every stage of a sauna’s journey.

We caught up with Jon Uglow, the garden designer whose vision and direction brought the landscape surrounding this bespoke sauna and wellness space to life. In the interview, Jon shares how the immersive, mystical garden was inspired by Lord of the Rings, and is made up of features to resemble a natural and serene setting, all curated to enhance the sauna as the focal point.

While Jon had worked with saunas before, this was the first project to include an entire retreat-like setting, including a living space, a treatment room, a hot tub, an ice bath, and accommodation.

All of our saunas come with the option to add a cold water feature, enabling you to experience the benefits of contrast therapy.

Sauna bathing continues to grow in popularity largely due to the fact it feels so good!

This feeling of contentment and serenity that follows the contrast of the heat from the sauna alongside the exposure to cold water, is brought about by a heightened bodily awareness alongside the mind being calm.

It results in the release of endorphins and creates a deep sense of physical relaxation.

Install complete!

We are excited to have been working behind the scenes with highly renowned two-Michelin-star restaurant, Ynyshir, to integrate an exclusive sauna experience into their already immersive and incredibly unique dining experience.

This collaboration has been initiated by Heartwood Saunas founder, Olly Davey, and Head Chef and Owner of Ynyshir, Gareth Ward, in an attempt to explore the impact of sauna on senses, particularly taste.

Each sauna is entirely handcrafted by our experienced team of skilled carpenters, with careful consideration taken over every detail at all stages of the build.

In order of appearance:

1 - Anth using the planer thicknesser
2 - Joe precision-cutting coping for a bench front on the mitre saw
3 - Carwyn and Robin fitting a fascia
4 - Alex clamping together a door frame
5 - Frew applying the final touches in our staining process
