Wearing these DHB gloves for the first time today and I'm pleasantly surprised.

They fit really well, and in today's hot weather temperature (24°C) my hands felt fresh and not sweaty at all.

The mesh material allows cool ventilation, and they grip the handle bar nicely with perfectly placed palm padding.

Can't wait to try this Mavic Aksium set of wheels from Evans Cycles. (Thanks again)

I've been using Mavic rims from my early cycle-courier days, and my first pair were the 1990s 26 inch 32 hole SUPs

Without a doubt, and in my humble cycling related opinion, they're the best made rims with low maintenance durable hubs that roll on amazing long-life bearings - I'm yet to change my current 15-year-old bearings but on my Aksium rim brake wheels.

Surprisingly, I've not yet owned or ridden a bike at speed with disc brakes etc. so my first true full riding experience is something to eagerly look forward to.

A bike build is in progress with a Tiagra 10 speed grroupset.

Looking forward to trying these Endura MTB gloves; courtesy of Sport Pursuit.

I've been interested in these gloves for a while after seeing and trying on a pair on a few months ago, but by chance I came across them at an affordable price, so thought to order a pair.

Snug and comfortable, these gloves have a well-made feel, and the palm padding is nicely positioned.

The suede-type material ensures good grip also in wet conditions, and the knuckle protection is not too obtrusive or feels uncomfortable.

There's no excess material in the thumb areas, and there isn't any of that over-tightness that's often experienced with these types of gloves (depending upon the hand size).

Endura cycling gear is pretty good, and I still have a couple of the baggy MTB shorts (with intact stitching) that are both around 25 years old!

These Adidas Terrex AX4 hiking boots are incredibly comfortable, warm, very well made, and are 100% waterproof.

Due to the Gore-Tex lining, considering going for the half-size option as they'll probably be a bit too tight (e.g. UK 7, go for UK 7.5); a lesson learned with the AX3 hiking shoes (trainers) that have a slightly tight right foot.

The Continental sole has a nice rubbery feel, ensuring maximum grip also in wet and slippery weather conditions.

The Adidas Terrex AX3 hiking boots look fantastic, and they can still be found via online searching, but I've finally found perfect hiking boots that are sure to last a while.

This is a rare hand-built Bontranger 26 inch MTB possibly from the late 1990s to early 2000s.

It's a gift and now a restoration project. So far it'll have a Shimano Tourney 8 Speed Groupset where possible, Alivio V-brake calipers, new 26 inch wheels and tyres, and a respray in the original colours seen here that I might do myself.

I'm still trying to find a list of the original specifications; any help there would be much appreciated in sourcing more info and replacement decals/stickers etc.

Continental Contact Tyre Wear:

I've been running these 700x28c tyres almost daily for the past few months commuting in the rain, in heavy rain, in dry weather, and in hot weather.

The recommended tyre pressure is 102psi but on average, i.e. on most days, my tyre pressures were 120psi on the rear (photo 1) and 115-120psi on the front (photo 2).

I often ride at racing speed, and the rear tyre's tread reduction is noticeable and an indication of the excellent grip level also in its current condition as shown in the first photo - they're getting faster.

It would be interesting if the tyrewall depths were 2-4mm deeper, thus increasing the buoyancy when absorbing the bumps and undulations of the roads but at high-speed.

These tyres are great, the tread pattern's grip was as expected.

Question: would the perfect Continental tyre be the Gator tyre compound with the Contact tread pattern?

Answer: I think so 😁
