Kitchen and Larder Edit
With a big downsize on the horizon, we started with the kitchen and larder edit.
Our first job was to clear out the all of the date food and spices that had simply made its way to the back of the cupboards. Then we looked practically at all the appliances making sure they all fit into the new kitchen. Any broken or chipped china was thrown away. Any duplicates, unwanted china and cook books were packed up and given to charity.
In the process, we packed a box of bits for her son's university, which was a lovely moment and brought him right into the process.
With a much smaller kitchen for my client she was being ruthless this will make all the difference when i go and unpack.

This week saw the completion of an intensive five day project, transforming a house that was full from top to bottom.

Every room needed careful sorting, but the biggest challenge was the basement, rammed with family boxes accumulated over generations, many of which had not been opened or looked at for decades.

Working with my team, including antiques expert John Foster, we carefully worked through everything, deciding what should go to auction, what could be donated to charity and what needed to be responsibly disposed of. Having an antiques expert to hand was invaluable, particularly when dealing with belongings that had been in the family for many years.

One of the most fascinating moments came when John spotted a tiny blue box hidden amongst a collection of everyday objects that most people would never look twice at. Inside was a delicate gold Caterpillar Club badge with ruby-red eyes, awarded to aircrew whose lives were saved by parachuting from a disabled aircraft during the Second World War. It was a wonderful reminder that the smallest, most unassuming boxes can hold the most extraordinary family stories.

The client was wonderfully involved throughout, making decisions with us and helping to keep everything moving forward.

After five very long days, it was incredibly satisfying to walk out of the house knowing just how much we had achieved. A huge undertaking, but a wonderful transformation.

Instillation Day in London

Yesterday was installation day for a long standing client’s two bedroom flat in London.

With a new kitchen, a fresh coat of Edward Bulmer paint throughout, new carpets and a new wardrobe in place it was time to decide what to keep, position the new furniture and hang the artwork collected over the past few months. These final details helped the flat feel like home again.

The new furniture was carefully arranged, while anything no longer wanted was cleared and collected that same day. Blinds were then fitted throughout, completing the transformation.

There are still lots of things to be bought and more pieces are already on their way but my client can now stay there comfortably while the final details come together.
It is always rewarding to see a space move beyond the practical stages of a project and begin to take on a life of its own.

Preparing For a Move With Children

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping clients get ready for a move. It is a balance of giving them space and guidance to choose what really matters to take with them into the next chapter. Today was a really satisfying day, working alongside my client’s two children as they transformed their rooms.
We started in my client’s daughter’s room. She was excited by the idea of selling clothes she no longer wore on Vinted to save towards buying new ones.

Together we sorted through her wardrobe, set books aside for charity, bagged up cuddly toys that were no longer wanted, and organised old schoolwork. By the end of the morning everything had a home and the room felt calm and tidy. We then moved on to her ten-year-old son’s room. He decided he no longer wanted his Lego, so we sorted that along with his clothes and separated out items for charity, for selling and for disposal.

By the end of the day we had cleared several bin bags and filled a car with items for charity. Best of all though, both children genuinely enjoyed the process.

Today was a full and rewarding day spent supporting a lovely mother with two young daughters who had reached the point of feeling completely overwhelmed by her home. Like so many people in this situation, she had done her very best to cope by placing items into plastic storage boxes when she could not immediately find a home for them. Although this had helped in the short term, the boxes had gradually become another source of stress because they represented lots of unfinished decisions.
My priority was to improve the flow of the house so that it felt calmer and worked better for everyday family life. The hallway was the main focus, where unnecessary items had accumulated and interrupted the natural movement through the home. We found a more practical home for the everyday pram while it was not in use, creating a much clearer entrance and making the space feel immediately more welcoming.
Throughout the day we worked steadily through each area, making thoughtful decisions rather than rushing. Every item was given a logical home, ensuring it could be found easily and, just as importantly, put away again without effort. It was not simply about tidying, it was about creating systems that would continue to support her long after I had left.
In the kitchen we emptied cupboards, checked that food and medicines were all within date, responsibly disposed of anything that had expired, and made far better use of the available storage by introducing practical solutions and making the most of every cupboard. Small changes, such as adding hooks and rethinking how everyday items were stored, made a significant difference to how the space functioned.
By the end of the day there was a car boot full of donations, mainly baby items, together with a small amount of rubbish. More importantly, the house felt lighter, calmer and much easier to manage. My client left the day feeling relieved rather than overwhelmed, with the confidence that everything now had a proper home and that the systems we had created would make family life that little bit easier going forward.

Today’s work reminded me how the last layer, the artwork really anchors a home. Working alongside my picture hanger of six years, I felt again that ease that comes from trusting someone’s eye. We laid out the pieces, talked quietly about what might live where, and made space for the client wishes. It wasn’t just about balance or symmetry, but about story, hers. By late afternoon, I noticed that shift. The house exhaled and began to feel lived in. Not styled. Not staged. Just quietly hers. And that, felt like the real finish.

Last week I was preparing a beautiful property for sale. It is so much more than tidying; it is also about thoughtful styling so that buyers can imagine themselves living there.

For this photoshoot, every detail was considered, from furniture placement and lighting to artwork, accessories and beautiful roses from the garden gave it a special touches.

Beautiful photography starts with careful preparation.

When packing up a house I found these beautiful hat stands. Having been a milliner for 17 years, this find made me smile. This is why I love what I do.

When packing up a client’s home recently, I came across these beautiful vintage hat stands. Having been a milliner for 17 years, they immediately caught my eye and brought back so many memories.

It is moments like these that remind me why I love what I do. Every home tells a story. Hidden amongst everyday possessions are pieces that reflect a person’s journey.

As a professional organiser, I have the privilege of uncovering these stories, helping clients decide what to keep, what to pass on, and ensuring treasured pieces find the right place in the next chapter of their lives.

These hat stands made me smile. A small but wonderful reminder that every home is full of surprises.

When I get a call regarding a house move. I often get asked how can I help them. My response is to let me come to your home and I can talk through the process. No two jobs are the same and until I am there with you it is hard for me to see how I can help. By being with you and walking around with you I can talk you through all of the options.
