Hi folks - it’s a bit of a warm weekend here in the UK!?!

It’s been a while since ZeKi Studios have posted any commission photos of recent work so here is an extra special commission that has been ZeKi’d for one of our mum’s for her 80th birthday.

Whilst we’ve always put 100% and a bit more into our work - this has had a bit of heart too 🥰

After years of mum storing her amazing gin collection at the back of the larder … it was time for the beautiful bottles to be on show (under lock and key)!

This piece has been named, The Cheltenham - after mum’s birthday place.

The unit is approximately 100 years old and it had seen better days.

The piece was completely sanded back to the wood to remove the white, rather textured, paint. The heavy wooden shelves have been replaced by tempered glass and the base is fitted with a mirror. To show off the bottles to perfection, we have fitted lights at the top. Adjustable gold feet have been added to allow the unit to stand on both wooden flooring or carpet.

The detailing on the front is gold leaf and browning wax. Inside is gold leaf lettering, green leaf transfers and some gold stenciling.

It has been coated, not only to protect it, but to give it a lovely satin sheen.

The Cheltenham should now easily sail easily into its second century.

Zebrastien

It’s been quite a while since ZeKi Studios have posted any transformations.

Both Ze and Ki are working full time since the world came back online after the lockdown. There have been a few smaller private commissions and we have worked on a number of pieces for our own homes.

The latest of these is the magnificent Zebrastien.

A Nathan bureau was originally collected for a commission but soon became a useful piece of furniture - so Zebrastien ended up staying.

As zebra print features quite heavily within ZeKi (mainly Ze 😉) this incredible decoupage print from It's So Chic Furniture Art & Wall Art was destined for this bureau.

A fantastic 3D style panelled paper was used on the sides, matching on the interior, lined the drawer and support panel.

The hardware has all been sprayed silver and small LED lights used to bring the interior to life.

Some of the internal dividers have been removed to allow bottles and glasses to stand up and change the use from office to drinks cabinet.

A small mirror has been placed above the drawer and a silver glass panel added to the base to finish off the interior.

A fabulous black and white key tassle is the final flourish on the outside!

After our client’s delight with Victoria that we finished a few weeks ago, we have just finished her console table to match the set. We decided to call him Victor to sit alongside Victoria.

Whilst a very different piece of furniture to our usual mid-century pieces, Victor was a little worse for wear and needed a facelift.

After a complete clean and sand, the body has been painted in the same black as Victoria, however the sanding revealed a lovely wood grain on the top surface. We decided to keep it and so washed it with the black paint and waxed to show off the grain.

The basket drawers were coated in a similar cream paint with leather handles so we switched those out with the matching copper handles that we mounted on a small wooden base to make the handles more sturdy given they are mounted on the wicker sides.

Our client is delighted that her bedroom pieces all match and coordinate with her beside tables and the lamps with copper legs.

Happy Coronation Weekend! We hope you are enjoying the celebrations! 🇬🇧👑🇬🇧 The sun has finally made an appearance too which is great for the street parties taking place!

Whilst we have been taking in all the pomp and ceremony, we are also taking the opportunity with the long weekend to finish a lovely commission for one of our clients.

Meet Victoria a lingerie dresser who possibly holds a few secrets! 😜

Victoria was looking a bit tired and our lovely client wanted her to be more dramatic to match her black gloss bedside tables and copper leg table lamps.

We’ve painted her in black and coated with a lovely satin sheen. The drawer fronts have been given texture using paintable anaglypta paper and the fabulous copper handles tie in with the client’s beside table lamps.

We are delighted with how she has turned out and more importantly the client is over the moon! So much so we now have a console to give a make over to using the same colour scheme.

Rex …. a Stag Minstrel Telephone Table Seat - with an updated red, white & blue theme.

A fun twist has been added to this Stag Minstrel telephone table - perfect for the upcoming Coronation celebrations!

Professionally finished in red, white and blue with silver leaf accents on the corners. The small drawer has a new lion head handle and is lined with the red to match the seat pad. The seat has been been completely re-finished with new seat pad and bright red faux/vegan leather.

The top of the table has a regal transfer that is fit for a king - or queen!

The item has been finished in a gloss coating for protection and to add that extra bit of shine!

All of our furniture at ZeKi Studios is restored with care, precision and attention to detail. Our policy is to source all of our pieces locally from within a 10 mile radius. Our preferred materials are water based and manufactured within the UK. Most of what we source arrives with us in top condition but all have been preloved and may show some signs of age and their previous life. We will endeavour to highlight any noticeable foibles in the listing but all pieces will carry some minor imperfections that hint at their past.

This piece is ready for local collection from KT15 within 7 days.

Rex …. a Stag Minstrel Telephone Table Seat - with an updated red, white & blue theme.

We are delighted to announce that our stunning Aslan will be off to his new home next weekend!

Aslan has been an absolute favourite here - the mix of the rich colour with the gold make him a unique piece of furniture.

Aslan is a piece that must have so many stories to tell from over the years - if only furniture could speak!

However, it is time for him to start his new life …
