Work on the big garden table slab is coming along nicely. Bow tie inlay wood joints to stabilise the cracks and black epoxy filling the smaller ones. Lots still to do but this piece is going to be epic 👌🏻

Hello and welcome to Chonky Wonky Wood.
Located in Suffolk, Jason and Jon began their artisan company in 2024 when a delivery of large logs was dropped on the doorstep for burning. They quickly realised that it was far too good to go up in smoke. Jason, a professional Chef with over 30 years experience instantly thought chopping boards and Jon with a background of woodworking agreed and so the seed instantly took root.
Why Chonky Wonky? Well, apart from describing them as individuals, I'm not even joking. They believe in big and beautiful, allowing the natural curves and embracing the imperfections that nature provides to shape each unique, individual piece of what they like to call, functional art.
With both a passion and a mission for sustainability the timber sought  is already earmarked for felling and instead of burning it or leaving it to rot away they are able to save a percentage to create their beautiful and practical pieces. There are also future plans to help restore the balance with a tree planting scheme.
A varied selection of timber is available including Oak, Sweet Chestnut, Lime, Apple, Strawberry tree, Birch and Redwood. Creating a list of pieces including both Chopping and Charcuterie boards, Steak slabs, Bowls, Doorstops, Tables and even a whittled spoon or two.
The pieces are shaped, allowed to dry so that any natural splitting thereafter can be  stabilised with epoxy resin before being sanded to within an inch of its new life and then treated and fed with a good quality mineral oil.
Each design is fuelled by nature and therefore although some are similar,  no two items are exactly the same.
Please note; being wonderfully natural and however much we work and feed the pieces, they are still susceptible to nature's ways over time. We send care  guidance to help sustain the longevity of each piece.

Just wow!! Look at the beautiful tones of this strawberry tree wood....yes, you heard me... strawberry tree!
These are going to look so good, as a steak slab or charcuterie board......you know what!? You decide!!
