I was milling oak the last two days more than 5' square into 2.5" slabs, 8x8's, 8x1's. There was a second piece 22' long, 3' wide, a branch of the one above! no time for photos . It had blown over in February weakened by a stream washing away soil in the roots.

I fitted the 10' chestnut gate and it worked well. I have another to make now .

Last week I was milling oak and ash at Bridgnorth. I did plenty of 6x6,6x8,4x4,8x1 but only recorded some of the slabwood so you'll have imagine the rest!

Milling 11' oak today up near Kidderminster . 12 slabs, 3-4 ft wide, 2.5" thick...a bit on the heavy side!

Checking the chainsawmill operation at the yard today before a large oak tomorrow. See I am using multiskip chain - 11 links then 2 tips etc. It makes for a smooth finish most of the time and less strain on the drive sprocket.
