On the 4th November 2011 my sister, Sheona Lockhart, passed away due to complications after surgery. Up until that point in her life she had gone through many operations due to other illnesses, but sadly on this occasion she was unable to recover. With the one year anniversary of her death coming up, my family and I wanted to do something special and remember her through something positive. So to
mark this occasion we've decided to organise a ceilidh night and a charity skydive – the latter of which is why I have set up this page. Skydiving was something that my sister loved, especially after 'taking the plunge' while travelling in Fiji. It was always a joke in the family the way that she went ahead and did what she wanted, as doctors had previously told her not to do anything strenuous when she had wanted to scuba-dive on an earlier holiday, but then she never did listen most days...
My sister's skydiving experience was one of the highlights of her life and I figured this would be the perfect way to remember her and raise money for the ward in which she spent her final days. By donating money, you would be helping pay for new furniture in Ward 5C at Gartnavel General, that families could use when they visit their loved ones. We felt this would be best place for the money as it would make a visible difference – rather than just donating money to a nationwide charity where you never see the effect that your money has. By sponsoring me as I 'willingly' jump from a perfectly fine airplane hopefully we can raise a decent amount and achieve something positive in memory of someone that meant so much to us. Also, if we don't raise a lot of money, my sister says she'll come back and haunt us...
P.P.S. That last part was a joke - just cause we're raising money in memory of someone doesn't mean we can't have the odd laugh...
