Two years in Leipzig collaborating with eigenform. This is our last project, which was also a collaboration with Illustrators Elstertainment. The Katzenzimmer (Cat room) in Hostel Eden, Leipzig. Inspired by a cat’s climbing ability, curiosity and their view of the world on a different scale to our own, the large scale furniture requires you to climb to reach the beds and uses a random tree-like structure to raise the different sleeping levels. Tree branches allow hanging of jackets and bags and the various different levels create a desk/bench space and storage space for backpacks.

Following a move to Leipzig, the studio was inspired to create Wanderer Wohnzimmer by a trip to an exhibition of Paul Klee’s drawings in the spring of 2015. The forms, layers and colours evident in the work of Paul Klee all informed the design process.

After big delays the Wohnzimmer project is up and running again. These are the stained and oiled pieces of a small table – the first and smallest of the seven pieces being made for the Wohnzimmer. With 3 weeks in Scotland in December, it will be early 2016 before this is all finished.
