As part of our Logie 100 open day on 27 June, Ged from Gedwood will be running a hands-on green woodworking workshop here at Logie Timber Supplies.

Participants will use freshly felled timber and traditional hand tools to carve their own wooden whisky tumblers to take home.

We’ve linked a short film below showing a little of Ged’s process and the kind of work involved.

The biggest mistake people make when choosing decking timber is usually focusing on how it looks on day one.

Outdoors, the timber still needs to handle moisture, movement and weather properly years later, not just look good the weekend it goes down.

It was a real privilege to be part of the official opening of AW Laing Ltd new workshop, offices and kitchen showroom last week.

A company with over 110 years of history, now with the third and fourth generations continuing to carry things forward.

We’ve worked closely with the Laing team over the last 6–7 years, and this year especially we’ve seen that relationship continue to grow. That only happens through consistency, trust, good service and supplying quality timber time and time again.

One of the nicest parts of the day was hearing people speak so positively about the Logie Timber team, the shop, the showroom display, and the story behind home-grown Scottish timber. We had numerous visitors come over to ask about the products and displays.

A big thank you to Olly and Hamish for the fantastic work on the display in the showroom, and to the whole team for continuing to represent the business so well.

Some tools change very little over time.

A sharp edge, good timber and someone who knows how to use them properly still matter just as much now as they ever did.

As part of our Logie 100 open day on 27 June, we’ll have traditional woodworking demonstrations, historic chainsaws from the local folk museum, and a few older tools still earning their keep around the yard.

To celebrate 100 years of Logie Steading, we’re opening the doors at Logie Timber Supplies for a day centred around timber, making, tools and outdoor craft.

Throughout the day there’ll be woodworking demonstrations, traditional tools, outdoor cooking with Petromax, chainsaw history displays, a two-man hand saw competition in aid of Cash for Kids, and more.

Gedwood will also be running a hands-on woodworking workshop during the day. Places are limited and booking is required.

A reminder that we’ll now be open on Saturdays from 9am–1pm, starting tomorrow.

If you’ve been meaning to come up and have a look round, need timber for a project, or want to pick through what’s available in the yard, you’re welcome to come up.

Reduced-to-clear timber is still available to sort through in the yard, and standard stock is available as usual.

No appointment needed, just come up and have a look.

We’re now open on Saturdays.

From Saturday 9th May, Logie Timber will be open every Saturday morning from 9am–1pm.

If you’re working on a smaller project, need timber for the weekend, or want to come up and have a look through the yard, Saturdays are now a good time to do it.

You’re welcome to browse, pick through available stock, and sort what you need.
