We are offering the chance to manage the long-established Acrehead dairy farm near SRUC Barony Campus in Dumfries and Galloway.

With minimal upfront costs, access to SRUC’s expert support, and use of the herd and machinery, this is an exceptional chance to step into a forward-looking dairy enterprise.

The successful candidate will run the 130-hectare farm, receive a share of the milk cheque based on performance, and take part in knowledge exchange activity.

This opportunity is part of SRUC’s commitment to supporting the future of farming—by prioritising reduced emissions, biodiversity, public health and rural economic growth.

Thank you to all the applicants, shares and help to find our multi skilled farm worker as we have now filled this position, but now we’re on the lookout for calf rearers to join us for a minimum 3-month period, starting 10th March!

Dourie Farming is a progressive dairy farm with a spring block calving system, rearing:
✅ 400 dairy calves & 700 Aberdeen Angus calves
✅ Using powdered milk, teat training & transitioning to Heatwave feeders
✅ Feeding & general calf care

💡 Some calf rearing experience is beneficial, but agricultural experience is essential. If you’re hardworking, hands-on, and love working with animals, we want to hear from you!

📍 Location: Dumfries & Galloway (near Newton Stewart)
👥 Positions: Part-time & full-time available

Food labelling - yes we need to know what we buy to consume!!

We believe that all beef and dairy products from cows whose feed contains additives used for reducing methane emissions, should be labelled to state that this is the case, so the public can decide whether to consume or not, instead of consuming unknowingly. We believe it should be our choice.
