Back to School…
Had the very exciting job over the summer hols of giving a local school a glow up. The brief was fun in a wow way with a lot of colour so I teamed up with the amazingly talented to create a wallpaper that was as special as this school is! Also jazzed up the existing plain bookcases with stripes of the book banded colours stored in each section so the kids can easily identify where to go for their next read!
I’m so pleased with how it turned out. This is only phase 1… watch this space for phase 2!

Tree planting!
We love trees at Gringley Bespoke. So we plant a tree for every invoice that’s sent out! It’s also why we look for FSC (there’s also and PEFC and SFI) on the furniture we buy or, even better buy antique and used furniture.
Tree buying day is always a highlight in January and don’t we need some highlights in January!

Inspo trip…
We took a family trip to Northumberland this half term it’s a gorgeous part of the country- so much space and a lot to see and do! Would really recommend it. As ever there were plenty of historic interiors in the mix for me to get my fix! is now officially our favourite National trust property- it is amazing and really ticked my eco box, being the original smart home right back in Victorian times as the first hydroelectric powered house. The gardens were an adventure to explore and the kids loved it. We visited too though you can’t take pictures inside as the Duke and his family still live there but we could take pics of the playground (built by elves!), the poison gardens and us having tea in a treehouse restaurant. We popped over to Holy island to see a castle that’s not a castle on an island that’s not an island! Will share some more pics on my stories too.

Much like choosing sweets in Woolworths in the early 90’s I’m a keen disciple of the try before you buy method!
Samples are a must in my opinion- I need to see it and feel it to know it’s the right colour and quality. It’s the best way to ensure you don’t have buyers remorse and when we’re buying things we’re giving house room to it’s always best practice to channel your inner Goldilocks to make sure it’s just right!

Regardless of everything you may think you know about our home from these small grid pics the reality is that with two semi feral kids, a workaholic husband, my own business, a tendency to DIY and 5 hens, 5 stick insects and a hound thrown in for good measure our home is less show room and more ‘ship tip’ the majority of the time! Well I’m tackling it head on and have decided to declutter- although it’s a little tricky as I’m a little of a magpie and I hail from a long line of maximalists! (My grandma decoupaged or painted every single thing that stood still long enough in her home!) Any how I’ve written a blog on my website about making a start if you fancy a read.
