Chapter Four Design Ltd Chapter Four Design is a furniture painting, upcycling & restoration business run by me, Aimee 🙋‍♀️x Hi! I’m Aimee... So nice to meet you.

I am the proud owner of Chapter Four Design Ltd which is a small business specialising in creating bespoke pieces of furniture which hopefully will bring lots of joy to my customers for many years. I take old, tired and often unloved furniture and transform it into pieces that are intended to bring lots of joy to the owner. Upcycling, furniture flipping, restoration and sometimes simple magic are all great ways to describe what I do. Why the name Chapter Four Design you say... This is a question I am often asked. This business definitely presented itself as the next chapter in my life. But personally on reflection I realised that this ‘new chapter’ was the fourth one in the story of me...

I guess Chapter One is me, Aimee. A born and bred Northerner with a love of anything creative. I have a BA hons Degree in Illustration and a National Diploma in Graphic Design and it was always my dream to find a career that allowed me to use my creativity – but I wanted to roll up my sleeves and get stuck in, not sit behind a desk all day. So I pursued my other love for a while which is fashion, spending a decade in Retail Management and then 7 years as a Senior Recruitment Consultant for the fashion industry. Chapter 2 is a little soppy (sorry!) but this began when I met my now husband Robbie when I was just 22 years old. After some long distance dating I took a leap of faith and moved to the Midlands to be with him . . . 14 years on and I’ve never looked back. He is my biggest supporter and cheerleader - and I could not have pursued my dream of setting up my business without him. Chapter 3 is when I became a Mummy. Our daughter Sophie is 3 and the best thing to have ever happened – like ever! She is a bundle of fun, cheekiness, energy, beauty and love. And the sassiest person I know! Everything I do is for her and I want to show my little girl that dreams really do come true if you work hard enough. So now you see where I am going with this.. Chapter Four is when I was able to realise my own dream. I set up the business in 2020 (there had to be some positives to the year right!) and never looked back. This is all mine and I put my heart and soul into every piece I create. I’m a bit of a perfectionist. I finally am living my dream and get to be creative everyday – to roll up my sleeves and get stuck in without being sat behind a desk - now you'll find me painting that desk! And do you know what, I’m actually pretty good at it! I see potential in something and I love exploring what that is, through lots of different methods and techniques. My pieces are all unique and one of a kind. I create furniture to sell and I also work on commissions so if you have something in your home which you love but it is tired and in need of a little love, or perhaps just doesn’t fit in with your décor anymore, then I would love to work with you to find the perfect design for it. Maybe it’s a family heirloom that is very sentimental but needs transforming. Or perhaps you are looking for a particular piece that you have always dreamt of having in your home. Absolute. Bedroom. Goals 🫶

How stunning is this bedroom! I love absolutely eerything about it. My client has excellent taste 👌.

It was a great project for me to get my teeth into - enormous corner wardrobe, 2 bedside tables and solid chest of drawers - but a seriously labour of love. EVERYTHING needed sanding back to show off that beautiful grain underneath, so the prep was seriously prepping (my arms knew about it, sanding those tall wardrobes 🥴). BUT we'll worth it as the finish is exquisite.

I used Fusion Mineral Paint in colour Putty which is a lovely creamy tone with excellent coverage. All sealed with 2 coats of Fusion Tough Guard for added protection.

The thoughtful dressing of this room paired with the now simple, clean furniture has created such a haven. I love the muted tones and mixed textures that my lovely client has used, not to mention that stunning wall colour.

For Sale... The Cabinet of Curiosity.

A one of a kind, totally unique piece of furniture.

I could see this working in a bedroom or dressing room beautifully, and I also kinda love the idea of it in a bathroom - adding a bit of drama 👌.
But really why hide it upstairs, this stunner would work as a side table with a lamp on it in a living room or conservatory. Endless possibilities.

The paint effect underneath was created by layering up different colours of paint and applying them in a way that celebrated brush strokes and texture. This was all sanded back to give the smoothest finish I think I've ever achieved. All paints by fusionmineralpaintuk.

But we aren't done yet.. a dark wood stain was applied on top to darken the exposed wood elements and bring everything together but I still didn't think this was WOW enough.. enter the decoupage stage.

I layered up decoupage papers (the skull one in top being my absolute fave), followed by gold, silver and rose gold leaf. Next it was stencilled black butterflies and finally decoupaged elements of an amazing fun wallpaper - the squirrel and frog obviously being the stars of the show.

Finally I sealed everything with Fusion Ultra Guard so its wipeable and all the elements fully secure. I added these vintage brass handles to finish it off to perfection.

Life's too short for boring furniture 🌿🌸🦜

I can guarantee that nobody else has a console table in their hallway or sitting room that looks like this!! It is bold, it is fun and it just oozes personality - everything I want in my furniture 😜.

This piece was upcycled originally 12 months ago to the black, with the brass cup handles, but it wasn't exciting me - and more importantly it wasn't selling - so it was time to wave my magic paintbrush and sprinkle on some Chapter Four magic.

This jungle design has been achieved using 2 different wallpapers, cutting out fun elements and layering them together until I was happy with how it looked. Its been secured with Modpodge and sealed with several coats of Fusion Ultra Guard.

I am in LOVE with this now and I am so proud of what has been created by being brave, and taking a risk.

Elevated Elegance 🫶 For Sale

This one of a kind, farmhouse dresser is absolutely beautiful. From its wooden carved details and and stunning original hardware, to the dovetail joins and carefully hand finished paintwork.

This sideboard is painted, waxed and distressed in a French Farmhouse style. It is luxurious and gives a feel of grandeur.

I am so excited to see where this beauty finds its forever home, someone is going to be so lucky to have it.

As well as how it looks, this piece is also brimming with storage, with 2 large cupboards with a shelf in each and four beautifully lined drawers.

Fact: Pink furniture is cheaper than therapy.

I mean, if you had this beauty in your home how could you ever not be smiling 🥰.
And she's for sale, you lucky little buggers! 💖

This one is a little different for me. As a total perfectionist I always try to make every piece absolutely, well, perfect. But when I stood back and looked at all the quirks and imperfections in this one, I decided to celebrate these, instead of trying to correct them.

The faded brass handles, the slightly wonky carved lines, and the worn corners of the drawers where they have clearly been well-used and well-loved for decades.. all beautiful and part of its story.

Its next chapter includes a splash of rosy pink, some pretty faded stencil patterns, touched of gold and drawers lined with a textured, beautiful botanical paper.

I would love to know your thoughts..

10x 5k runs in the month of October for stand up to Cancer.. an amazing cause and one that I know is close to soooo many people's hearts.

I started my running journey 2 and a half years ago and although it is now a regular part of my life its not as regular as it was .. so trust me this is going to be a challenge!! 🫣😬

This is the first time I have ever done anything like this or run for any reason other than to stay fit and healthy, so its kind if a big deal to me.

Part 2 ...🦁🧙‍♀️🗄❄️

Here is how this vintage wardrobe went from drab to fab, with some added magic and whimsy thrown into the mix.

I'm so thrilled with how it turned out, and I absolutely love the hidden secret inside that only me and my client (and you guys ☺️) know about. How fun!

This piece is actually a sequel to another Narnia wardrobe I did for this client 5 years ago, which you may spot in this vid as she made a little cameo appearance.

I will post some still photos soon with all the products I used, but for now I am off to the forest..
I'll get my coat ❄️😜.

I sourced this gorgeous piece for one of my absolute favourite clients and was so excited to get started. I mean, the carvings, the handles, the shape of those doors - phwoar!! 🔥🥰

Here's how the first part of this project went, from delivery to priming.
