I was commissioned to make a box, with handles and a lock, for the ashes of a fellow cabinet maker, furniture restorer. This is the result. All made from reclaimed materials.

An oak cabinet. Originally a Secretaire, from which the interior had been stripped out in the 60s or 70s. The fall neede...

An oak cabinet. Originally a Secretaire, from which the interior had been stripped out in the 60s or 70s. The fall needed restoration and, because secretaire interiors are both expensive to make and unused today. The owner decided to have it turned into a cocktail cabinet with mirrored interior. The item is Continental, and dates from the late 19th century. In the 1970s the interior had been fitted out with chipboard shelving, formica, and woodgrain plastic fablon.
