House of Reeves is Croydon's oldest and largest furniture store and has been trading for over 140 years. Our famous Croydon landmark in Church Street displays Croydon's most comprehensive sofa suites, beds and mattresses, dining room, bedroom furniture and sofabed collections. Founded in 1867 By Edwin Reeves, from Sherborne in Dorset, on a site opposite the Croydon Parish Church in Church Street,

this is the same building we occupy today. House of Reeves is still a family owned furniture retailer, now in its fifth generation. There are no other companies in the area who are still run on a daily basis by the direct descendants of the original family and we are one of the few independent furniture retailers left in the South East. Few will have missed the sight of our adjacent sister store being razed to the ground in the August 2011 riots. This highly publicised event has spurred us on, and we now have a fully refurbished surviving store, displaying a wide range of quality and affordable sofas, beds and furniture for the home. Our website has also been entirely updated for simple browsing of our products online. House of Reeves competes and still beats national names for individual service, competitive prices, fast delivery and above all fantastic value. The Reeves family offer service, professionalism and reliability the national chains aspire to. Our History

Founded in 1867 By Edwin Reeves, from Sherborne in Dorset, on a site opposite the Croydon Parish Church in Church Street, the West Country Cooper traded with his wife, brothers and son, introducing ironmongery, furniture and a secondhand department. Edwin's son, William Arthur, expanded the company, opening branches in Caterham and in his Father's home town of Sherborne. William T Reeves became the Managing Director and ran the company until his death in 1982, when his son Maurice succeeded him. Following the riots, Maurice has come out of retirement to assist in the running of the Company alongside his two sons, Trevor and Graham. Over the years the company has seen many changes. From the expansion in the '50s and '60s, harder times came with Croydon's redevelopment in the '70s, and so the company contracted back to its Croydon base. During those times the company still flourished, famed for its Auction Rooms (3388 sales in total), its specialised valuation service, and secondhand department. By 1977, the area had become so synonymous with Reeves, that 'David Ellis Place' was renamed 'Reeves Corner'. Following the installation of the Tram network at the start of the Noughties, our nearest tram stop adopted the same name. The company made a major transition in the mid 1980's to selling purely new furniture and beds for the modern household. This change heralded a big challenge for the company and it was from this that it developed into the company you see today, offering a fantastic range of furniture in all styles. Five Generations of Quality and Affordable Furniture. As well as a fantastic range of home furniture in all styles, we offer an excellent delivery service as well as same day delivery on many products. If your furniture needs assembling we can arrange this for you. To complete our one-shop service, your old furniture can be removed as well - just sit back and it's all done for you!
