Entertaining in a kitchen like this feels less formal, more instinctive. The split-level seating keeps guests connected to the space without interrupting the flow around the island, while the cooking area becomes part of the conversation rather than separate from it.

Material contrast plays its part quietly. Floated concrete surfaces alongside sandblasted and stained ash bring depth and texture, softening the scale of the room and giving it a more tactile feel in use. Even the integrated leather handle details were considered as part of that experience. Small points of warmth against the architectural forms of the cabinetry.

Designed for long evenings, casual gatherings and everyday family life in equal measure.

Island design is rarely just about appearance. The proportions, spacing and functionality are what determine how the room actually works day to day.
1. An oversized island can quickly disrupt the flow of a room. Comfortable circulation space around the cabinetry is often what makes a kitchen feel calm and considered.
2. The most successful islands allow seating to sit naturally within the architecture of the kitchen, rather than appearing as an afterthought.
3. Deep pan drawers, concealed bins, breakfast storage or everyday crockery — the internal layout often matters more than the external finish.
4. A substantial island can anchor a large room beautifully, but proportion is everything. Material choice, thickness and detailing all influence how visually heavy it feels.
5. Cooking, entertaining, working, gathering. A well-designed island quietly supports all of it without dominating the space.

Every kitchen starts as individual components moving through the workshop, each stage requiring a different level of precision and attention. Modern machinery sits alongside traditional cabinetmaking techniques, helping us achieve consistency without losing the hand-finished detail that defines the final piece.

A large kitchen should never feel cold or overpowering. The warmth comes from the balance of materials, lighting, and the smaller details that soften the space.

Here, warm timber on the island brings natural texture and depth, while the bronze mirror reflects light back into the room and adds a softer, warmer tone than a standard glass finish ever could. Even the lighting temperature plays an important role, creating a calmer atmosphere throughout the space.

Luxury is often found in the details.

The balance of materials, the softness of the lighting, the depth of colour, and the way every element sits comfortably together.

Our Tillingham kitchen was designed to feel calm, refined, and quietly impressive from every angle.

Soft neutral tones, natural timber and understated brass details come together to create a kitchen that feels calm, warm and effortlessly lived in.

Designed in our Holkham style, this space was created to sit comfortably at the heart of the home, balancing practical everyday living with a softer, more relaxed feel. The timber worktop adds warmth and character against the painted cabinetry, while the aged brass ironmongery brings a quieter, more refined finish throughout.

A kitchen designed not just to look beautiful, but to be lived in properly.

A kitchen should feel right from day one, and continue to work just as well years down the line.

Swipe through a few of the features our clients often tell us they’re most pleased they included. Not for show, but for how they quietly improve everyday living.

A thoughtfully designed pantry is always high on that list.

It’s more than additional storage. It brings a sense of order, clarity, and ease to the kitchen. Everything has its place, everything is easy to find, and the space simply feels calmer to use.

A small detail on paper, but one that makes a lasting difference.

A kitchen designed to work hard without ever feeling busy.

In this space, the island creates a natural place to gather, with breakfast seating positioned to keep the room sociable and connected. Practical slab-style doors make the cabinetry easy to live with day to day, while the beaded frame detail adds just enough interest and character.

Considered flow, useful storage and a calm sense of order. A kitchen made for daily life, as much as it is for hosting.

This kitchen is a good example of how traditional design details can be introduced in a way that still feels current.

Shown here in our Beauli style, the furniture features a large Georgian moulding on the doors, giving it a strong sense of character and craftsmanship. Rather than leaning fully traditional, the space has been designed in a more contemporary way, with carefully chosen worktop colours, handles and tall fluted glazed cabinets helping to bring a lighter, more modern feel.

The contrast works beautifully, creating a room that feels timeless without feeling dated.

Would you lean more towards a classic kitchen, or do you prefer this blend of traditional detailing and contemporary styling?

I can also do a third version that is a little more luxury-led and closer to the tone of a high-end interiors brand.

Why do timber accents work so well with painted cabinetry?

It comes down to balance. While painted furniture gives a kitchen a clean and considered look, timber introduces something softer and more natural, helping the overall scheme feel warmer and more complete.

1. Paint and timber have been used together for years because the combination lasts. It feels classic and familiar, yet can still be interpreted in a more contemporary way depending on the tones and detailing.

2 The pairing of painted finishes with natural timber helps break up solid blocks of colour, adding depth to the scheme and creating more visual interest.

3. Timber introduces grain, variation and character that painted surfaces do not naturally have, which helps a kitchen feel richer and more layered.

4. Painted cabinetry can sometimes feel quite crisp or uniform on its own, whereas timber brings natural warmth that makes a room feel more inviting and lived in.

A good kitchen should not just look beautiful in photographs. It should feel balanced, characterful and comfortable to live with, and this combination continues to do exactly that.
