Booking and meeting new clients is always a bit of a scary and exciting thing 🫣

I’m always a little nervous - even after all this time - because I always want to do the very best I can for my clients. With repeat clients I’m a bit more settled, because I know them, we’ve worked together before and I know that they know how I work and my style.

New clients haven’t had that experience yet. And your client experience is one of the most important parts of my job, other than the final images.

I met Gemma, Mitch and baby Poppy last month and thoroughly enjoyed my session with them and their resulting gallery. And thankfully (it’s always a heat dropping moment pressing send!) they did too! ❤️

Receiving lovely messages after gallery deliveries is still so exciting for me and genuinely makes me so happy that I have done a good job for you. And Gemma send me the sweetest messages and also left a lovely google review 🥹🥹

I think, that you can never have too many photos.

I have that feature on my phone where if I pop into the photos app, it gives me these little summaries or video montages of ‘this time 5 years ago’ and I get to be transported back in time, and I get to see my babies being babies again.

Photographs must be the closest thing we have to time travel, and so it stands to reason, the more photographs we have, the more we get to travel?

Who cares if they are chaotic, wild, sad, soft, full of snuggles or twirling skirts. If they are full of the treasures they live to collect, rocks, flowers, shells - pressed deeply in their palm because they are just so precious at that moment in time.

One day will be the last day. The last brought home treasure, the last time you pick them up, the last time they kiss your cheek, and documenting it now means you can revisit that moment whenever you like, and that, is special 🤍

Do you remember the first time you found out you were pregnant? Was it exciting? Were you nervous? Did you freak out? Because I felt all of those things 😅

But then after that first positive (and let’s all be honest, the second, and third and forth) it finally sinks in - your life if about to change. You hold on to that quiet anticipation for the first 12 weeks, holding your secret close, waiting until the right moment to share your news.

Once you get past that first scan, it becomes even more real. You see that tiny bean fluttering away in your stomach, you hear its tiny butterfly wings heartbeat and you take away your scan photo and treasure it like the miracle it is.

That first pregnancy holds all kinds of special, it’s its own once in a lifetime experience, and that is precious.

FAQ - Can my dog/s be involved in our newborn shoot?

The answer is always a big YES 🙌🏼 (with the small caveat that you are entirely responsible for them.)

I am always happy to try and work with your dog to get photos with your baby, I know that our pets ca be our very first ‘babies’ and are an integral part of the family ☺️

🌸💛 COLOUR 💛🌸

This session almost didn’t happen. Yesterday’s weather was bipolar.Sunny one minute, hailing the next 🌧️ but it’s proof that waiting just that bit longer before cancelling a session can be worth it, because after the torrential downpour at 5.30pm we got gorgeous golden light at 6pm.

🩷❤️ Cute In-Home Maternity ❤️🩷

Working together to capture photographs that feel like *you*.

You all know by now how much I love an outdoor (preferably at sunset) maternity shoot, but I also love a cosy in-home maternity session. You can do the things that you’ve spent most of your pregnancy doing. Cooking, drinking tea with a good book on the sofa, eating fresh bread because it’s just the thing you’ve been craving.

What’s so special about these types of sessions is that they are taken in your space, and when you look back on them in years to come all the little things will flood back as well. The smell of your fresh laundry, that creaky step that you meant to get fixed, how it felt sitting in the patch of sun in your living room. They hold core memories and that is something incredible.

The next few months are filling up fast. If you are after a maternity or newborn session, remember it’s always better to book in earlier 🤍

Hello 👋🏼 It’s been awhile 😅

About a month ago, we received news that my Father-in-Law was unwell and needed urgent surgery. We decided over a matter of days that we needed to be with him and so booked our tickets, rescheduled shoots (thank you to every one of you who were so understanding!) and got on a plane back to Zimbabwe.

A place we haven’t been to in nearly 9 years. I took the opportunity to step away from the grid and social media for a while, a little reset. While we were primarily there to help with booking surgery, running back and forth to the hospital and just deal with the complete lack of a cogent medical system over there, we also took the opportunity to show our boys the life we had growing up.

Days were spent playing out in the red soil, chasing lizards, frogs and beetles. Watching the vervet monkeys play in the trees and just being out in nature. It reminded me that we need to let our children be bored, we need to push through that whining phase and the when the creativity comes through for them.

I’m firmly back into work and our usual life, but our trip was a good reminder that I need to allow my boys to be independent, and learn that they can entertain themselves without screens or me.

Sharing some of this wonderful maternity session from just before I left, a brief day when it felt like spring was popping through to say hello 🌼
