A gorgeous, ethically-produced, bench for your garden or outdoor workspace. The bench ends are upcylcled cast-iron, featuring grandiose lions’ heads and have been restored with Hammerite metal paint for a classy black finish. The slats are recovered solid iroko wood (known as African teak); a beautiful hardwood with a rich, coppery-brown colouring and a very attractive grain. The slats have been coated in teak oil for weather-proofing, and are affixed using zinc-plated steel coach bolts for even more environmental protection. A wonderful addition to your outside space, and you can rest easy knowing that this beautiful piece of furniture has been produced using 99% recycled materials (the coach bolts are brand new!).

Bit of a depressing post, I’m afraid. But please share far and wide🙏

Our little workshop was broken into on Tuesday night and the following items were stolen (shown in the photos), just in case anyone in the Chichester/Portsmouth areas is offered any second-hand tools, or spots any at a car boot sale, that are too good to be true!

All the items have distinguishing marks or features that we can identify so please do give us a shout if you spot anything:

1. Makita biscuit jointer (mains powered) in a carry case
2. A cordless Makita circular saw (with battery attached when it was stolen)
3. A Makita impact driver (again, with a battery attached when it went)
4. A Makita cordless planer (body only)

Predictably, have been…well. They haven’t even bothered to come out yet, two days later.

Please do share if you can. Lots of places were targeted on Tuesday night. Some poor chap had his Ducati motorbike stolen by the same three lads.

Thank you.

AFTER➡️BEFORE

It was an absolute pleasure to design, manufacture and install this bespoke mirrored trellis for a lovely client.

The mirrors conjure the optical illusion that you’re looking right through the brick wall behind, accentuated by the curved piece of wood following the shape of the brickwork, while also adding light and a feeling of space to the garden.

Made from solid cedar, this outdoor feature will stand up to many seasons of ‘changeable’ British weather. But bring on the sunshine please?!🤞😎

If you would like any help or guidance with transforming an outside space, or if you know exactly what you want but need some help realising your vision, do send us a message today!

What a gift of a restoration project. Our client has a particular passion for Mercedes cars, so when we were asked to bring this chest of drawers back to life there was only one road to go down (sorry…)

Using a photo of a classic Mercedes-Benz "Silver Arrow" racing car as inspiration, this cherished cabinet was first of all stripped back. We then carefully applied (and then rubbed back, counterintuitively!) several layers of traditional milk paint for a shabby-chic, weathered finish.

Milk paint has been used since Roman times and gives a wonderful patina to the finish. We hope you agree!

We love bringing old furniture back to life as much as we enjoy making new pieces. Do get in touch today for any of your carpentry, restoration or cabinet-making needs.

BEFORE 💫 AFTER

Really enjoyed bringing this piece, full of sentimental value, back to life.

Originally made (very sturdily!) by the client’s father from what I’m pretty sure were old Victorian ‘London Board’ floorboards, we wanted to lean into the rustic nature of the piece. So it was stripped back down to the bare timber, any structural defects repaired, before a liberal application of beeswax which was then burnished with a cork block. Heavy on the elbow grease but we hope you’ll agree the results were worth it. And always good to keep the traditional methods alive!

If you have a cherished piece, or any item of furniture that you think could do with a spruce up, we’d be very happy to help. Get in touch today.

Have a great weekend🙂
