Sue Gould Retired , just for fun. Time to do what I want, time to sort out what I think, what I really believe. Interesting!

Well, retired now, I have reviewed 29 years of sketchbooks and diaries and pulled out the things I think are worth more thought, I am slowly working through them.

This is rather nice, though I can take little credit.

A photo of valerian, cerinthe and Ribwort plantain, under the front windows, then turned negative by my phone.

Well 'no mow may' looks pretty good, I wonder what no mow June will look like.

Forget to show you this one....

I made the one on right a out 30 years ago, I always called it 'Hide'.

It sat on the wall, I looked at it, ruminate, does it say what I want it to say? It was based around a photo i took of my shadow on the ground in Whitwell Woods, i was thinking about how the animals can spot us a mile off, even when we are trying to sneak around, as Primal stealth bombs we are rubbish.

So just before Christmas last year I decided that the answer to that question was no.

So I remade it, real face rather than a shadow this time, thinking about how we try to peep quietly at the wild things, but they spot us a mile off, I was imagining a bird, hidden in the spiky Holly, with our sneaky faces sticking out like a sore thumb.

My daughter then tells me that 'Hide ' was one of her favorites, oops.

Better title might be Bulls in China Shops?

"Up to no good" Acylic on canvas, back out of storage and reframed.

Came about after a conversation, " don't you feel afraid walking in the woods on your own?", no not really.

I would say the danger comes from people, so if there is no one there, what's to worry about, I would be more uncomfortable in a crowded room.

So is the figure in the painting, " up to no good," or is he just enjoying the peace? Is it even a he? Depends on your perspective, you do you, I'll do me.

Finished the bedroom door over christmas, started this in lockdown, scaled it back when I realised how risky it was to work on the staircase, I found myself thinking more about what I was painting rather than making sure I didn't fall down the stairs.
