The chair making course at the finished a week ago. All the students really embraced the whole process of designing their chairs, developing them through mock ups and prototypes. Great group and a great two weeks for us instructors Peter Korn and I.

Great to be back in Maine at the teaching a two week chair making class with Peter Korn, the founder, no less, of the school here.

The first week has already flown by, and all the students have really engaged with the project.
They are doing full size layout drawings of their initial designs on paper, and then building the mock ups from ply and poplar to help resolve aesthetics, ergonomics and structure. Looking great so far.

I will be demonstrating at the Bovey Tracey Craft Fair this weekend, starting tomorrow, Friday.

I am in the Out of the Woods tent, alongside some other very skilled makers.

A little bit delayed, but these are some of the things that students at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship were doing in the two week curvatures workshop with Jeff and I. There was lots of energy and also it was great to see everyone experimenting and trying new things.

First great busy week done, running the Curvatures course with Jeff Miller at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship It’s been full on and great fun with some challenging projects to keep us busy. 😊

Just been to see an impressive sculpture ‘Bearing Witness to Things Unseen’ by in Chichester cathedral. Part of an interesting exhibition of sculptures by members of the Royal Society of Sculptors at the cathedral called Together We Rise.
Simon’s sculpture is the shadow of an ancient rock, cast by the rising sun on the equinox.
The exhibition runs till September 6th.

Several of us will be demonstrating.

New batch of my Somerset chairs underway. Steaming bending the back legs and laminating the front hoop. I have been kindly invited to demonstrate at the Bovey Tracey Craft Fair this year June 17-19. I will be weaving the willow seat and backs, so need some frames to work on!!

Couple of little projects by two of my students at the workshop. Bookcase with a drawer, in oak by Michelle, and a little table in elm by Angie. Her first project ever, well done, and well made.
