Jabril Network TechTalk: Robotics with Shahid Mughal, CEO of Innvotek

Shahid brings deep experience in transforming early-stage ideas into commercially viable, scalable ventures. He has successfully led products from concept to market across multiple sectors, delivering high-impact initiatives supported by organisations such as Innovate UK and the European Commission.

With hands-on expertise spanning ex*****on, funding and go-to-market strategy, Shahid specialises in de-risking innovation and converting advanced technology into investable growth.

Under his leadership, Innvotek built cutting-edge robotic platforms that automate high-risk inspection and maintenance tasks on critical infrastructure, dramatically improving safety, efficiency and operational outcomes.

Innvotek is a UK-based innovation and technology company specialising in multifunctional robotic systems for extreme and demanding environments. Their solutions are designed to operate where humans cannot safely go, from underwater splash zones and confined spaces to offshore energy assets in harsh marine conditions. These systems minimise infrastructure downtime, eliminate unnecessary risk to human life, and set new standards for inspection and maintenance in industries including offshore wind, oil & gas, shipping and heavy industry.

One of Innvotek’s flagship technologies, Amphibian™, is a remote-operated robotic platform capable of performing advanced inspection and maintenance tasks above and below the waterline, delivering precise data and enabling safer asset care in some of the world’s toughest environments.

Whether you’re a founder, engineer, investor, technologist or robotics enthusiast, Shahid’s experience offers valuable perspectives on the intersection of innovation, robotics and industrial transformation.

Jabril Network TechTalks are a series of events, supported by a host of partners, including the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and the British Business Bank, designed to increase angel investing by building the knowledge and confidence of aspiring angel investors.

💡Want to become a venture capital investor but not sure where to start?

British Business Bank has launched a brilliant initiative designed to support emerging and aspiring female investors - and we’re proud to champion it as part of our shared mission.

“Emerging Female Investor Office Hours” is a programme that provides informal, pre-application sessions for female angels, fund managers, and general partners looking to apply to one of the Bank’s equity programmes.

It’s designed to break down barriers, provide clarity, and give women across the UK the confidence to step into the room and lead.

The BBB has committed £100 million through its own funds, and a further £30 million through the IWT Women backing Women Fund of Funds (£130m total commitment).

To all the emerging female investors out there:
This is your invitation to learn, ask questions, and explore what’s possible.

📍Sessions are held virtually and open to all across the UK.

These valuable sessions are fully booked the at the moment.
But, new sessions are due to be released - make sure to sign up and not miss out. 🗓️

Most UK SMEs are leaving non-dilutive funding on the table

This article is a solid starting point: it pulls together 150 UK small business grants (plus a few schemes like tax credits) in one place:
https://lnkd.in/e6nEDNm3

Before you spend hours applying, here’s the playbook I use to sanity-check whether it’s worth it:

1) Pick your “theme” first
Innovation, skills, digital connectivity, net zero, export, local regeneration. Most grants are built around one of these

2) Build a grant-ready pack (once)
One-page summary, milestones, budget, quotes, evidence of need, basic financials. This gives a nice template to use for multiple different grants

3) Assume you will need a business plan and match funding
A lot of providers want both, so prepare your paperwork early1

4) Go hyper-local
Some of the best opportunities are region-specific (example: gigabit broadband vouchers can cover up to £4,500 for SMEs).

If you’re a founder or SME operator, this is worth a bookmark for Q1 planning.

In need of some funding for your small business? These grants should give you a boost, wherever you're based in the UK.
