This beautifully carved oak chair had a rather boring cover on the seat, and I had a bit of fabric left over that was just big enough (literally just big enough by about 1cm 😬) so I recovered it with that and it’s made such a difference to it. It’s a lovely thing, I especially like its chunky ball and claw feet and the shape of the armrests.

I rather like this stoneware jug, purchased locally this week. It is stamped W. T. L. & S. and dated 1931 - it looks more like a mid century or possibly west German piece! W T Lamb & Sons commissioned pottery from various English potteries such as Royal Doulton and Denby. No idea who actually made this though…

This lovely simple antique pine chest of drawers is new in stock - I especially like the rounded corners and turned feet. It may not have the elegance or craftsmanship of some antique furniture, but antique pine is so warm and easy to live with. You don’t have to be precious about it, just use it and enjoy it ❤️

I’ve been painting again, this time a rather tired oval mirror which has a lovely little bobbin detail around the edge. Painted in a folk art style using and finished with a very light coat of dark wax just to age it a little. Various colours used, but the background is Coolabah Green. Hopefully given it a new lease of life!

I’ve always loved antique pine furniture, it’s so easy to live with and sort of comforting. Homely, I suppose. This sideboard came out of a cottage in a local Peak District village where it had lived for over forty years. It has a great shape and some lovely little details, such as the shaped detail to the moulding on the door panels. We’ve given it a clean and wax and it’s good to go!

New in stock on this lovely sunny Friday is this little pitch pine table with later painted finish. It has really nicely shaped turned legs and a full width drawer. Ideal as a side table or as a small desk, as there is room underneath to sit at it.

Sold to a visitor to our shop today, but I thought I’d post it anyway as I’m really happy with how it turned out. I painted this chair myself over evenings and weekends just to see how it went as haven’t had time to do any painting of any kind for a while, so I’m a bit out of practice. I thoroughly enjoyed doing this and have resolved to find time to paint and draw again (I used to paint in oils and watercolour, mostly botanical art, but life has got in the way rather the last few years) as it totally clears my head of everything else! Very happy this has sold to someone who fell in love with it straight away, and it’s heading off for a new life in Cumbria 😊
