At Independent Vehicle Solutions, we spend our days making sure vehicles reach the right destination safely and with care.
But for our Managing Director, Jayne, care and compassion extend far beyond the automotive world.

Several years ago, while travelling to Tunisia where some of our IVS team members are based, Jayne discovered a small animal sanctuary online called The Street Haven Animal Sanctuary. Wanting to see the incredible work for herself, she made the journey to visit - and what she found there left a lasting impression on her heart.

Nestled in Haouaria, Tunisia, the sanctuary is run by an extraordinary woman named Justine. Originally from England, Justine has dedicated the last 15 years of her life to rescuing and caring for abandoned, injured, abused, and vulnerable street animals. What began as rescuing dogs from the streets soon grew into something much bigger. Eleven years ago, she bought a farm to create a safe haven for the animals who had nowhere else to go.
Today, the sanctuary provides shelter, warmth, food, veterinary care, and above all, love, to hundreds of animals who would otherwise be forgotten.

Jayne saw first-hand the devotion, compassion, and tireless work that goes into keeping the sanctuary running. She also saw the enormous challenges that come with caring for so many animals, entirely through donations and the kindness of supporters.
The experience touched her so deeply that she personally brought three rescued cats back to the UK, where they are now cherished members of her family.

At IVS, we are incredibly proud to support this wonderful sanctuary and the remarkable work Justine continues to do every single day. Although the sanctuary may be many miles away, its mission is very close to our hearts.

Every contribution, no matter how small, truly makes a difference. Donations help provide:
• Essential veterinary treatment
• Food and clean water
• Safe shelter and bedding
• Rescue and rehabilitation for abused and abandoned animals
• Ongoing care for animals who may never find homes

As we roll toward the end of another busy year, I want to take a moment to say a massive thank you to our incredible IVS team. A special shout-out to Vince, Dan, Duncan, Ali, Amen, Keith, Jo, Julie, and Justine - you are truly the heart of what we do.

Having been friends with Jaynie for over 30 years it’s been a treat to work on her designs, branding and marketing over the last 10 years since she started IVS.
I recently created an ‘In the Spotlight’ post on my social media about the 10 Year anniversary of IVS so here’s our Q&A session -

ORIGINS & EARLY DAYS
Q - What inspired you to start the company 10 years ago?
"My mother was a big inspiration, I wanted to provide a service, but wanted it to be more personal, getting to know customers, their likes and dislikes, and exceed their expectations"

Q - What were some of the biggest challenges in those early days?
"Starting a business and getting the backing from banks, insurance, fuel card companies, taking on the challenge of the electric vehicles"

Q - How many staff did you start with?
"There was just Julie and I, we started with 8 drivers, a battered people carrier and worked out of my lounge to begin with"

GROWTH & MILESTONES
Q - Looking back, what moments are you most proud of in the company’s journey?
"Our proudest moment was delivering over 500 mobile testing vans in the covid pandemic, logistically it was a nightmare, delivering into Scotland and Ireland, the challenge was getting the drivers back with limited transport links, accommodation, flights and ferries"

Q - Were there any turning points where you realised the company was really starting to grow?
"When companies started to approach us, and recommendations from other customers"

Q - How has the company evolved since those first years?
"We now have fantastic staff, nice offices in a great location, better systems, good branding and all the other procedures in place to fulfil our customers needs"

PEOPLE & RELATIONSHIPS
Q - What role have your customers and partners played in shaping the business?
"Teamwork and communication are key in any business"

Q - How important has your team been in reaching this milestone?
"Without a solid team, the wheels fall off, most of the team around me have been with me from the early days and their solidarity and protectiveness of me and the company speaks for itself"

Q - Do you have a favourite memory of working with a customer or partner that stands out?
"I have some very loyal customers, and have had special moments with a lot of them. When things were tough in the beginning they stood by us, and supported us. I now class them as friends"

REFECTIONS & THE FUTURE
Q - What does reaching 10 years mean to you personally?
"A lot, there were times when things were hard, and with covid, but we survived and grew, I have never been someone who quits"

Q - What values or principles have guided the company through its journey so far?
"Never give up, you will always find a solution, and be honest and real"

Q - Looking ahead, what excites you about the next 10 years?
"The company is established, with an ever changing industry, the IVS team is young, dynamic, diverse, and strong, enabling me to take time out to do things . I have not been able to do before such as supporting the Street Haven animal sanctuary in Tunsia (where I go several times of year to meet up with some staff we have there)"
