Made with love for one miss who is taking her dreams and ambitions to the next level step by stippy step! Having agonised (truly) over colour choices for days, it's absolutely impossible to capture the colours on this one - you'll just have to head her way for a ☕ or 🍰 and see it with your own eyes as soon she's up and running 🤓

"Good advice" - Something a bit silly and dilly that has been stuck in my head for a while. I hand-painted this little number and had to pick my favourite font by far. It took bloody ages but I'm chuffed with how this feels on the eyes and brain. I've also got some thoughts on where I might take myself next to keep myself sane and entertained✨ And in the meanwhile, I'll follow the only good advice we all need this year. Or at least try my very best.

P.s. I know the lighting is poor here I just got too excited to wait 🤩

"Premature Identity Crisis" - I don't get on with this table at all. Ever since I finished it, it's been annoying me and I can't figure out why. It wasn't what I had originally planned and I think maybe I feel a bit annoyed about second guessing myself. Honest feedback would be really appreciated. It feels like I've had my indie biz identity crisis early which is good cos it means I can get it out the way 😂 Thus far, most feedback has revolved around how much it looks like I've made an X-Factor advertisement which amuses me greatly cos once you see it... 😂 Now to get back to something a little more 'me'. If anyone has got advice what it feels like to battle creative compromise (or alternatively a contact number for Simon Cowbell), you know where to head! That's a typo but what a great one 😂

Lesson learnt: Internal criticism is a million times worse than external. Must stay true to self in order to avoid at all costs 😂

"Families that zig together, zag together" - This Ziggy little family had a kickstart from my own fambly at our first gathering post lock-down. Some kind hands stepped in to do some sanding, which was a very generous way to push me through my least favourite part of the 'jazzing up' process. I am so chuffed that they finally all go together in their own unique family way. Next step: Etsy! Procrastination via the medium of zigzags is over 😬 P.s. Promise the next thing I post won't be in this colourway 😂 I have deep obsession.

Lesson learnt: Sending something is as simple as getting someone to move it for you 😂 I've spent months picking people's brains (thanks most recently to and for assisting with a complete fail of brain power about how post works) only to realise that it's really not as complicated as I'm making it. That said, still a teeny bit daunting for some reason!

Upcycle #6: "90s Kid" - I can finally post a pic of this jazzy little number, designed and painted for the OG 90s kid, my little sister, born 30 years ago this week!

I've already been a gushy mess on my personal account so I'll stick to this: This song is cool, my sister is cool and thus, a supercool and well deserved cheeky coffee table in my favourite colour combo 🕺 Off to be protected and guarded by the little sis in its new home.
Lessons learnt: Upcycling is way more scary when you're doing it as a gift for someone important! Held my breath a number of times whilst finishing this up!

Lessons learnt: I have a glamorous assistant now (pictured), even if I didn't actually ask for any assistance.

One year ago this week I started my first attempt at this upcycling lark. I still haven't finished this table. Because I basically broke every rule in the book (not in a fun rebel way, in a "that's gonna take you ages to rectify" way 😂 I then let it gather sticky masking tape residue in a kind friends conservatory so if anyone has any tips for removing year old sticky goop from wood, would be much appreciated 😂 Table, one day you will get your glory.

Upcycle #5: "Broke But Fabulous" - Holy s**t. I honestly can't take enough photos of this to capture how excellent it looks with real eyes. The pink is so fluorescent and exciting in real life, I can not get enough. I think this colour is going to be getting a lot of air time in my world 🤩 I LOVE IT.

This table was the unfortunate victim of a back twinge dropping incident and I really expected to use it as practice and then throw it away. Since finishing I have come to look at it every now and again 'just to look' 😂

Lesson learnt: Just cos something's broken, doesn't mean it can't be fabulous (I think we knew this one already but it's still worth remembering).

Upcycle #4: "Sasha" My first solo upcycle project 🤩 I am literally in love with this. There have been so many highs and lows in bringing her to life but I honestly couldn't be happier. Yes, she's not perfect but I love her with every little imperfection. Those colours are out of this world and you can bet your bottom dollar that nobody has a hobby cupboard like mine ✨🤸 The colours are honestly mind boggling and I owe a lot of glory to Gorilla Tape too! Varnished with ordered via by the fabulous 💙💙💙 But most importantly, this look was entirely inspired by one - My mum, my sister and I went to see her show in Bath and I was blown away by the vision, beauty and confidence of every single thing Sasha did. This is my little nod of admiration.

Lesson learnt: Different paints work in different ways. I had so many goes trying to make the pink work and it just wasn't playing ball. I finally stopped trying to fight it and used a completely different painting approach and it went on like a dream - could have saved myself a lot of time if I hadn't just expected it to 'start acting like that other paint I used' and instead learnt to work with it as its own.

Lesson learnt: Things can be fixed. It's so easy to flap when something goes wrong but actually, nothing is final and sometimes it's ok to take a step back to move forward. It's worth fighting through the frustrations.

Found myself spending a long time thinking about whether this is a weird thing to have above your bedroom door and yet put absolutely no concern in to the fact that there is a tiny hand on a tiny shelf in the same location. Conclusion? Tiny hands always appropriate.
