Ah bless my gorgeous boy Albie - he does love a bit of carpet!
How could I deny him the spotlight in the main shot after he snuck in and got himself into position so perfectly?
Clearly knows his angles. What a little poseur! π€
I actually wanted him out of the way as I was losing the light (this first attempt at capturing the table was actually shot outside! But I got in an very ADHD-style muddle of daylight, golden hour and blue hour.... and too-short carpet so decided it was easier to start over!)
So this is it.. the project that very aptly book-ended my unintended absence of leave from Upcycling - restored and restyled at the request of after she rescued it from the waste recycling centre for .
I'm not allowed to tell you how the table looked before - you'll have to watch the show to find out how it has been transformed!
I can tell you it was hiding a big secret for us to discover when it came time to start the work π€«
I can also tell you I've stripped, sanded, streamlined, scraped, toned, stained, veneered, shellacked, taped, painted, top coated - it's had more beauty treatments than I've ever had in my entire life!
It's now a perfect multi-purpose table that can slip into a small space to use as a console or a desk or even a dressing table and then pulled out and opened out to full size for dining, games or drinks whenever needed.
And add a bit of pizzazz to proceedings of course too! π«
The design is bone inlay-inspired (you know, those awesome black-and-white geometric pieces made entirely with little tessellated pieces!)
I've used Mother of Pearl-effect metallic shades and deep dark Bronze metallic plus accents of Black over the original restored, and the newly-added, Mahogany (which has been toned down from red to a warm chestnut).
You might spot a few glimpses of the process coming up here soon - there is OF COURSE a tape reveal squirreled away for you! πβ‘οΈ
