Comfort begins with the little things.

Naturally temperature regulating, wool helps keep you comfortable throughout the night, responding to changes in warmth as you sleep.

Cherished for generations, it’s a natural material we’re proud to use in our mattresses, handcrafted with care here in Aberdeen.

We’re proud to be part of SUSE’s Apt Making It Work project, working alongside other employers to share learning and find practical ways to make employment more accessible and inclusive.

As a social enterprise, creating meaningful employment opportunities is central to our purpose. It’s about more than opening doors; it’s about giving people the opportunity to develop their skills, build confidence and make a valued contribution.

It was encouraging to see employers come together with Business and Fair Work Minister Tom Arthur MSP to discuss how we can make real progress in creating more inclusive workplaces and improving employment opportunities.

Thank you to SUSE for bringing everyone together and helping turn shared ambition into practical action. Thanks also to Springfield Properties for hosting.

At Glencraft, we believe a great mattress can do more than provide a great night’s sleep.

Ethical purchasing is about thinking a little more about the choices we make and the difference they can create. From the products we buy to the people behind them, where we choose to spend our money matters.

In our latest blog, we explore how ethical purchasing can help organisations and individuals make more meaningful choices, turning everyday spending into an opportunity to create positive social impact. Founded in Aberdeen in 1843, Glencraft is proud to be Scotland’s oldest still-operating social enterprise.

For more than 180 years, we’ve brought together traditional craftsmanship, natural materials and a commitment to creating meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Our purpose has always been about more than making mattresses. It’s about making a difference, creating opportunities and crafting exceptional beds that stand the test of time.

From our Aberdeen workshop to homes and hotels across the UK, our story continues, rooted in heritage and driven by purpose.

Our Business Development Manager, Kate Stott, and Digital Marketing Coordinator, Tuesday Mennie, recently attended the Made in Scotland Awards 2026 at Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel.

We were proud to be nominated for Outstanding Contribution to Manufacturing, recognising the individuals, teams and organisations making a significant, long-term impact on Scotland’s manufacturing industry. While we didn’t take home the award, we’re honoured to have been recognised alongside so many inspiring Scottish businesses.

With a heritage dating back to 1843, we remain committed to keeping traditional craftsmanship alive, creating meaningful employment opportunities and continuing to make a difference through manufacturing in Scotland.

Thank you to the Made in Scotland Awards for this prestigious recognition.

Did you know wool is 100% natural, renewable and sustainable, making it one of nature’s most remarkable fibres.

It’s naturally breathable, temperature regulating and able to absorb moisture, while its natural crimp helps it retain its shape. It’s also incredibly durable, with natural hypoallergenic, antibacterial and flame resistant properties.

There’s a reason wool has been valued for generations.

The Birnam Hotel has stood in Dunkeld since the 1850s. After almost two years of careful restoration, it's getting ready to welcome guests once again.

Glencraft has been handcrafting mattresses in Aberdeen since 1843. So it feels right that two pieces of Scottish heritage are coming together. Our handmade mattresses and custom-made beds will soon be in The Birnam's beautifully restored bedrooms.

We're proud to be part of this restoration and we can't wait for guests to enjoy a bit of Glencraft comfort when the doors open in spring 2027.

We were delighted to recently welcome the ESS team to our Aberdeen workshop.

The visit gave the team an opportunity to see first-hand how our mattresses are handmade and to learn more about Glencraft and the specialist solutions we provide for offshore and high-hazard environments.

Together, we discussed our exclusive range of mattresses specifically adapted for these demanding settings, combining comfort and quality with the practical requirements of offshore operations.

Thank you to the ESS team for taking the time to visit us. We look forward to continuing the conversation and exploring how Glencraft can support ESS across its operations.

Happy Wool Month

As the nights start getting colder, it’s time to create the perfect Scottish bedroom. The ideal bedroom temperature for sleep is around 16–18°C, but keeping it comfortable as the seasons change can be difficult.

Wool naturally regulates temperature, helping your body maintain a comfortable sleep environment without overheating. From the wool inside our handcrafted mattresses to our luxury mattress toppers, we use this remarkable natural fibre to help make those colder nights a little more comfortable: https://www.glencraft.luxury/
