The arms on this genuine leather chair where in much need of repair. The owner, in an attempt to get a little more life out of the leather put a vinyl patch over them. As the leather was still in good condition on the rest of the chair he only wanted to have the arms recovered. The trouble with that is trying to match the leather to the rest of the chair. As you can see in the photo, purchasing the cow hide is not the problem, but the colour match. The new leather our client purchased has a slight red tint to it but doesn't look so bad at all on the job. It also helped that our client purchased a good grade of leather. Much better than a patch.

Leather comes in all different grades. As with everything the better the grade the better the hide. Some leather is split to get more out of the hide but making it thin and not as good wearing. To help maintain and get more out of your leather it is imperative you clean and condition your leather sofa or chairs. They recommend every six months, but having worked with leather and spraying them for many years in Australia, I would recommend every three months.

Spring is here and this little outdoor setting is garden ready . With a limited amount of fabric the pattern match was not possible. But, our client was more than happy with the result as are we.

Now the weather is changing we thought we should show this beautiful outdoor setting. We completed these in the winter months for a delightful client. Being a professional upholsterer, I am aware there should be a pattern match to this job. However our client could only purchase a small amount left on the roll. She purchased a plain green which works very well for the borders and brings it all together nicely. We cut to shape new foam for the job and it is now garden ready. There were 4 x chairs, 1x love seat and that pretty rocking chair.

Delivered safe and sound in time for Christmas. Had one of the elves take all the old individual studs out and old webbing off. They took it back to the frame for me ready for pre upholstery.

Finally, we are finished the 3/seater sofa belonging with the two chairs previously posted. After being out of commission for a while I am happy to be able to get back on the tools.

It is always worth exploring options before rushing out to buy a new sofa. Often the frames of your old sofa or chairs that have lasted twenty years or much longer are of good quality. It is usually the upholstered covers that wear out while the frame has many years left in it. So give us a call and have a chat about that old sofa that could be made to look new again.

Just completed these two chairs in a fabric from the German company Staffaria, in Pet Safe Majest Blue. Just beautiful fabric to work with and looks fantastic on the job. One of the best hardwood frames I have ever seen. For its age it was in perfect condition. I shudder to think what that would cost to make in this day and age. There is a 3 seater that goes with these chairs. Watch this space as it will be completed in the next week or so. I am sure our client will be happy with these.

This will be a case of mixing old and new furniture in a room bringing a contrast of colours. This old sofa did not have a staple in sight, all traditionally upholstered in the inner workings. Our client has an appreciation for the traditional ways of upholstery and wanted her sofa re upholstered in the traditional way. This takes longer but we achieved the task at hand for the most part. A very bold statement but its nice to shake things up a little and think outside the box.
The cocktail sofa springs to mind for an evening aperitif.

Even after over 40 years in the business, we still procrastinate the night before delivery. Just making sure we didn't miss anything and all is in order.

Our clients were, I am glad to say, over the moon with their job. It was recovered in a "Just Fabrics" material "Definity Jadeite". Our clients acquired the suite when they purchased their chateau. It is the first job in all our years that after taking it back to the bones, found a surprise. In amongst the horse hair, straw, and sawdust it was padded out with old clothes and load of ladies stocking. It has now been restored with new webbing, foam, dacron overlay in the inner workings, and of course the new fabric with some touch-ups to the timber. It is now taking it's pride of place back in the Chateau L'Orangerie.

Such a very hot week to be upholstering in my limited shed space. So I was glad to be finished and delivering this large heavy job yesterday. These sofas and chair were originally removable loose white covers which we changed to a fixed upholstered body keeping the back and seat cushion covers removable for washing. The fabric was a Polsterstoff cord Munro Braun from a German company that a lot of our clients purchase from. It was beautiful to work with. A very nice wearing fabric which will last the distance and survive the dogs. I am also glad to say our clients were delighted with the job.
