Distances
An hour’s drive from Nerja is the Moorish city of Granada with it's many places of interest. The most impressive is the Alhambra and Generalife gardens, which is one of the most important places to see on the Costa del Sol. Nerja is also surrounded by pretty white villages synonymous with Andalucia. The nearest of these is Frigiliana, a 5 minute drive into the mountains. Frigiliana is an extremely pretty whitewashed village with narrow, winding streets full of shops and bars. Skiing
The Sierra Nevada Ski Resort is a 90 minute drive away from Nerja. It is the southernmost ski resort in Europe and held the World Alpine Ski Championships in 1996. The resort is easily reached and has local bus and taxi services running from Nerja. The resort offers a total of 19 lifts in various forms and ideally is a resort for beginners and intermediates in both skiing and snowboarding and also offers a selection of other snow activities. There are plenty of exciting outdoor activities in Nerja and area, such as scuba diving, horse riding, tennis, mountain biking, water skiing, climbing, sailing, deep sea fishing, hand-gliding or going on a jeep safari. At Torre del Mar you will find Aquavelis a large water park. Also opposite the water park you will find El Ingenio Shopping Centre where you will find a hypermarket, large array of fashion and designer outlets (including Marks & Spencers), food outlets and leisure area including multiscreen cinema, indoor bowling and bars.
