Still working on the dates, but if you want to get a jumpstart on next session's book, it's going to be the wonderful Absolute Beginners by Colin MacInnes.
Although the book's set in 1958 London and plays about with mods, scooters and jazz, it couldn't be more relevant to now, touching as it does on issues of immigration and racial tension.
But - the above is kind of deceptive as I've made it sound ultra serious. It's one of the most joyful books I've ever read and if you're feeling a little grey, a little washed out, a little cynical (maybe it's just the weather?), then it's the perfect antidote for pre-winter feels.
Trigger warning: although the protagonist is welcoming to immigrants, it was written almost sixty years ago and some of the vocabulary concerning race is offensive. No "n" word BUT copious use of the London equivalent, the "s" word.
