"The Skillsnatch-Fairy" is from an ADctivism poster series we made building awareness for new creative freelancers trying to breach the art industry.

We define ADctivism as a callout for change through the medium of traditional advertising.

In this edition we remind creators to keep their skills/pearly whites sharp, but also being skeptical about how employers value the skills they’ve accumulated through their career.

In her recent work, Lisa Rusland paints an image that challenges symbols of femininity and the male gaze.

The piece 🖌
"My work juxtaposes empowered women with stereotypical imagery and colours associated with femininity. The figure fights to see past the imagery but still challenges the male gaze.
The metaphorical flowers consume most of the body however, the figure overcomes this overwhelming presence."

Technique 🎨
"I start my paintings with fuchsia underpainting and paint on top with thin layers of oil paint which allow the viewers to see areas of underpainting showing through."
