Jordan's Principle- Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Children living on First Nation's communities have the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential

Jordan River Anderson was a First Nation child born with a rare disorder who required hospitalization from birth. The provincial and federal governments could not agree on who was financially responsible for his care in a medical foster home. Jordan's condition worsened and he passed away in hospital before both government levels could resolve who would pay for provided services. On December 12, 2

007, the House of Commons unanimously supported a Private Member's motion. The motion focused on adopting an approach that addresses First Nations children's needs first.

While this program focuses on child sexual abuse prevention and awareness, the information shared can help adults recognize and support children experiencing any form of abuse, trauma, or stress.
⚠️ DID YOU KNOW?More than 95% of child sexual abuse incidents are never reported.
WHY THIS MATTERS• Abuse often occurs alongside other forms of harm.• Early recognition can change a child’s life.• Safe, informed adults are key to prevention and protection.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN✅ Recognize warning signs of abuse and trauma✅ Create safer environments for children✅ Respond appropriately to concerns and disclosures✅ Support children through difficult life events✅ Use practical prevention and protection strategies
TOGETHER WE CAN:• Protect children• Support families• Build safer communities• Empower children to thrive
