This kitchen needed a glow up!

We are just wrapping up a stunning quarter sawn white oak kitchen. We installed the custom range hood yesterday, and will be wrapping up electrical next. That full height backsplash is a show stopper as well.

It's been awhile since I posted anything so here is a quick sample I made today to teach mortise and tenon joinery to my class. Specifically this is a drawbored haunched blind mortise and tenon cut by hand with a hand riven dowel.

Changing of the guard this week with a fresh new shop apron. There is no question of quality when this apron has protected my clothes for seven years of daily use. I forgot how nice they look when they are new.

We specialize in solid wood inset face framed cabinetry. Ya, that's a mouth full. What does that mean though? It means we build our cabinet boxes out of solid birch plywood. The exterior face then gets capped with a solid wood face frame that is built using floating tenon joinery. Our doors and drawer faces are also solid wood to match, which are set inside of the face frame for incredible custom built furniture style cabinetry.

Is this a lot more work than the standard European overlay style cabinetry? Heck yes. Is using solid wood more work than the industry standard MDF kitchen? Oh yes. Is it worth every penny to have custom cabinetry that will last generations? You're gosh darned right it is.

Santa's elves have been going hard in the shop getting two kitchens built for new year installs! We at DFW&D Ltd. Hope everyone enjoys a nice holiday break, and we will see you in the New Year.

We "wrapped up" this kitchen just in time for the Christmas Holidays! This was a full gut job down to the studs to provide a stronger floor system, and better insulation.

As always we have our solid wood custom kitchen cabinetry on display, along with our in house edge grain hard maple countertops and shelves finished with , and a clear pine painted V Match backsplash.

We are onto the home stretch with this kitchen. Just wait until you see the before and after! I believe this is the smallest space we have had to build a kitchen for.
