Tuuma Woodcraft

Tuuma Woodcraft Innovative furniture for smaller and unique spaces Ottawa-based Tuuma Woodcraft specialises in innovative furniture for smaller and unique spaces.

Tuuma is a Finnish word that means both "idea"and "inch". This dual concept is the starting point for all Tuuma furniture. Each piece involves bringing a thoughtful concept to life through skilled technique, and aims for balance: between function and form, utility and refinement. Each piece involves a blend of art and engineering, inspiration and calculation, serendipity and precision. By balancin

g the practical and beautiful, functional sculpture is achieved. In a small space this is especially useful, when one might not have the room to hide things in another room. Each piece is custom-tailored to the wishes and needs of the client and the space that it will occupy. A combination of traditional and modern methods and materials are used in creating each piece. This allows exploration of new and different avenues of design, craftsmanship and innovation without limitation. Tuuma's design style draws on the furniture, architecture, and industrial design of the 20th century period from the 1930s (specifically Art Deco) through the 1970s. Using this as a basis for inspiration, Tuuma works with its clients to best satisfy their needs and preferences. Tuuma can find unique furniture and storage solutions for your specific needs and space, including cabinets, side tables, coffee tables, hutches, sideboards, chairs, armoires, chests of drawers, benches, entrance units, desks, and more!

Hi all, long time no post! As it was, I wasn't so great at posting, and now with the state of affairs worldwide as it is, well, you can see how that's going for my FB offerings!

But now the gears are starting to move again, bit by bit. The usual art shows this spring and summer were unfortunately cancelled, and for a lot of artists (myself included) these are critical events that allow them to survive. This was taken away from us this year, but the great folks that run Art in Strathcona Park decided to create a virtual art fair. Please take a look and get in touch with any of the artists featured in the Showcase. I guarantee they'll appreciate it!

Please share with anyone and everyone!

By the way, everything that I have on display is currently available for immediate sale. Please contact me directly ([email protected]) and we can talk further details. I'm also, as always, available for full custom work.

Now get back outside and enjoy what we have left of this summer!

Well I finally did it... I wondered when it would happen... I accidentally jigsawed through my work table 😛 I'm surprised it took me this long. Luckily I missed all the metal bits of the frame underneath!
