As the 2026 Skills Canada National Competition in Toronto wrapped up last week, I can't help but reflect 10 years ago. In 2015 I made it to Saskatoon and competed in my first National cabinetmaking competition. I learned a lot and wasn't quite ready for the stage. Another year of preservation and 2016 saw me to Moncton where I earned silver in the Post Secondary Cabinetmaking, representing Manitoba.

Now, I continue to use those skills and knowledge to run my cabinetmaking business. Never stop learning. Never stop pushing. Life is about finding what you love doing and giving it your all.

Thanks to all my instructors, mentors, employers and educational facilities that have helped guide me to where I am today.

Another project for a return client. Install day today. Our client wanted the area to look like it always belonged. Built a bookcase to fit inside the nook. Added moldings to make the bookcase built-in. Then, added a door frame and passage doors.

When you get a call and are asked if you can make a longhorn with 16 puzzle pieces for a U11 girls hockey team for a team building activity, and results come out higher than the customer expected, we've done our job.

Delivered and installed this bookcase, figurine display case and shelf the other day. Built to fit between the closets.

A wrap on these custom closets. Featuring double hang closet rods on the ends. The middle section has 8 full extension, soft close drawers. Above the drawers is open shelving and pull out drawers to hang jewelry.

The corner closet has more open shelving and long hang and double hang closet rods.

The barn style doors are made to fit the space. Sliding doors with soft close mechanism.

Wrapped up this custom closet and trim work. The drawers on the right were built for the client back in 2024. They didn't feel the regular closet door fit and they also wanted better use of the space inside.

The 4 drawer cabinet is made with prefinished plywood. Soft close undermount drawer slides. The closet rod was still a need. There was space inside to add an open shelf cabinet. We ensured that fillers and trim were placed so there was no dropping something in an area that you couldn't access.

Another happy, return client. 🙂 Thanks for trusting in us.

Do you remember this stain color? If you do, it's because this is the third piece of furniture we've built to add to this custom king size bedroom set. The client's one request, to ensure that their Roomba fit underneath. We accomplished that.

The storage bench works wonderful at the foot of the bed. Made with solid maple hardwood with maple plywood for the panels. SOSS invisible hinges were used for seamless opening and closing. To minimize the risk of any accidental finger pinching, with grandchildren around, we installed Sugatsune soft-down lid stay.
