A gorgeous single page website for .estates was the perfect “welcome back” project from mat leave.

Focusing on showcasing the multiply experiences of this stunning venue and bringing all of the romantic, welcoming and whole hearted feelings to this digital space.

It’s a feeling…

When Kelly from .estates said leaving guests with “a feeling” was important for their venue I knew we had to add on brand development to their website project.

A brand that ties together their core values and uniqueness will overall create a cohesive experience across all touch points for guests. Stay tuned for the brand reveal and of course the gorgeous website that gives you a glimpse into this one-of-a-kind lakefront orchard venue.

Mom Entrepreneur Era

Hey friends, long-time no chat (due to mat leave)!

Cole just turned one and I honestly can’t believe how quickly that first year went by. It is like I blinked and ‘poof’ I have a little boy who is running around and being the biggest ham.

I thought I would give an update about life and business as I am so grateful to have a few people reach out about work opportunities. My mat leave notification has been turned off, but does that mean I am back creating in full force? Not exactly…

Being a mom and an entrepreneur is a wild experience and I am currently learning about this new season of life. I am beyond excited to start creating beautiful projects again, but my mama heart is being pulled at in fear of missing out with my little man.

That being said, I am going to give myself grace for this new chapter. Will there be changes to my business, probably. As other moms know- our time is limited so I am hoping to make changes to KJS that will accommodate my available time; while still giving the best client experience possible.

I’m so excited that .estates website is my first project back and allows this mama to get back into doing something she loves. Stay tuned for their website launch at the end of October.

As our little man’s due date is fast approaching (38wks eek!) I can’t help but reflect and be so grateful for these past few years.

Karleigh June Studio was a dream I had back in 2013, and after being a side hustle for so many years I never imagined I would be running KJS as my full time career. It literally was a dream come true and my heart has been so full.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Designing and connecting with so many amazing and wonderful entrepreneurs has made entering this next chapter of life completely bittersweet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I feel like I am just getting started and not ready to put a pause on building this little business. Don’t get me wrong, I am so excited (and a little nervous) for this next stage of life, but it just makes me realize how wonderful this experience and community really is.

The amazing people I have connected with over the years has truly been so uplifting and supportive. Knowing us creatives have such a great community of creative entrepreneurs is such a heartwarming feeling. The community over competition concept is so real and I am beyond grateful for the love and support.

Ashley from .bare.home and I have been working together for a few years taking her marketing material to the next level and focusing on the sophistication of her eco-friendly products.

So how could we not give her website a luxurious upgrade?!

We created an online home that elevates the brand, speaks to The Bare Home's vision, and beautifully captures the impact they deliver with their products or services.

How did we do that?

- Utilize their branding throughout the website (fonts, colour palette, icons, etc.)

Your website is like an online home for your business — and like any home, it should be welcoming, beautiful, easy to navigate, and a reflection of what matters the most to you.

Here are my 5 top tips for a website that works for you while still being visually beautiful!

01. Consistent Branding- use your brand colours, fonts and design elements throughout the whole website

02. Brand Photography- visually beautiful imagery that is on brand sets the aesthetic and vibe to attract your ideal client

03. Clear Website Copy- don't overwhelm with a lot of copy, but be clear and to the point

04. Call To Action- think of the flow of your website and guide viewers to take action (get in touch!)

05. Responsive Design- mobile design should not be forgotten, so keep fancy elements to a minimum and remember simplicity is key!

Sometimes the best conversations happen on long car rides...

As I enter this next chapter of becoming a mum I have gone through so many different waves of emotions. From excitement, worrisome, anxiety and joy. The heaviest emotions I have felt have been towards my business and the unknown for Karleigh June Studio.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What's going to happen when I take some time off to spend time with my family?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Will everything I have worked so hard to create/build just fall apart?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Will I have to start from the ground up again?

When will I be able to jump back into client work?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was reminded that growth and success are measured differently for everyone. No two paths are the same. Just because I will be shifting gears for a little bit doesn't mean I'm not growing, evolving and becoming a better self.

With social media especially, we are consuming so much content on how to make 7 figures, seeing everyone’s successes and it is so easy to constantly compare yourself to others.

Normally I keep these thoughts to myself, but I figured there might be someone else feeling a similar way. Just know it is ok to feel the emotions you are feeling and that growth is still growth even if it's little baby steps.

When establishing your brand it is easy to get wrapped up with the visuals, but what many forget is that a brand is based on the overall emotion and feeling it portrays.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Smell can be a huge part of your brand to create a specific brand experience. Have you been somewhere that has a distinct smell? Then weeks, months or years go by and that smell always takes you back to that place/memory...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is intention behind that and it is all apart of their branding!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Fairmont Lake Louise is a great example! Not only a stunning place, but Alberta's provincial flower is the Alberta Wild Rose and the hotel smells like the most amazing rose garden. All of their products in their rooms are wild rose scent and now everytime I smell 'rose' I think back to our honeymoon and our stay at the Fairmont. The smell created an everlasting feeling/memory and that is an excellent brand experience.
