We make to order because producing more than necessary is still producing waste, even when that waste hasn’t happened yet.
Traditional production often begins with a forecast: make enough, store it, and hope demand follows. When it doesn’t, the excess has to go somewhere. It becomes inventory, discounting, disposal, or material that was used without ever finding a real place in someone’s life.
At Cyrc, we try to reverse that sequence.
A piece is chosen first. Then we make it.
That gives us the flexibility to respond to real demand instead of predicting it, reduce unnecessary inventory, and be more deliberate about the material and energy that go into each object.
For us, circularity is not only about what happens at the end of a product’s life. It begins much earlier, with the decision of whether something should be produced in the first place.
Made to order asks for a little more patience. But it also allows us to make with greater intention, avoid excess where we can, and take more responsibility for what we put into the world
