Happy Holidays to each one of you.
On this festive day, we also morn the terrible loss of an icône. It was his last Christmas but he is still number one of the UK charts after 40 years. A legacy, that as inspired us and created our name. The genius of his music will continue to bring fun to our work.
So on this note:

Give a wham give a bam but don’t give a damn!

We have always envisioned our life to become a continuous mix of a 60’s pool day and a 70’s beach. For our collections, we draw inspiration from vintage movies, biographies, and music to understand that era and translate our gravitational pull to these eras into a contemporary context.

"Originally an architect, Louie George Michael moved to Canada to study cabinet making and primarily uses maple wood in to create whimsical products.

In Toronto this year, she exhibited her lifeguard-like David Mazel Tov chair, which features two vertically arranged rattan seats oriented in opposite directions to one another.

The designer's other products include the maple wood Tina Burner table that can also be used for ping-pong matches.

"I try to make furniture fun by playing with scale and function," she told Dezeen. "I invent and create everything myself by using the inherent qualities of the material as the source of my concepts."

🅻🅶🅼 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 — Mesmerized by the compositions, form, repetition of scenes from the 1967 film 'Playtime' by Jacques Tati
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Playtime was the result of the ambition of Jacques Tati, who built a whole city also called « Tativille ». He was able to realize these extraordinary interiors and buildings by using giant photographs to imitate material, glass reflections or even an entire façade.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The construction costs were so high that photograph cutouts of people were used to replace extras. Tati's creativity uses ruse to realize one of the most inspiring movies. Now, where we can recreate all those tricks using 3D renderings: Would there be space for a film like this in the contemporary world?
