Throwback Thursday

At 17 years old, I landed one of my first corporate projects with WestGroupe here in Montreal.
They ordered 30 matching pens made from authentic Jack Daniel’s oak whiskey barrels. Each one came in a custom wooden box with a certificate of authenticity, designed as a premium reward for their top clients.
Seeing something I made become part of a real company’s client program felt huge!

À 17 ans, j’ai décroché l’un de mes premiers projets corporatifs avec WestGroupe, ici à Montréal.
Ils ont commandé 30 stylos assortis fabriqués à partir de véritables barils de chêne de whiskey Jack Daniel’s. Chaque stylo était présenté dans une boîte en bois personnalisée avec un certificat d’authenticité, conçu comme récompense premium pour leurs meilleurs clients.
Voir quelque chose que j’avais fabriqué intégrer le programme clients d’une entreprise établie, c’était énorme pour moi.

One of the more meaningful builds I’ve done.
This elm started as a massive tree that had been taken down by Hydro-Québec because it was too close to power lines. When the wood needed to be cleared, my dad and I went out together and cut the log into "smaller" sections so we could haul it home.
This was my very first attempt at chainsaw milling. I slabbed it myself, had it professionally kiln-dried, flattened it after it naturally warped, then sanded, finished, and turned it into this table.
A piece built from patience, learning, and good memories. 🤍🪵

L’un des projets les plus significatifs que j’ai réalisés.
Cet orme provient d’un immense arbre abattu par Hydro-Québec parce qu’il était trop près des lignes électriques. Lorsque le bois devait être dégagé, mon père et moi sommes allés sur place pour couper le tronc en sections plus petites afin de pouvoir le rapporter à la maison.
C’était ma toute première expérience en sciage à la tronçonneuse. J’ai coupé le bois en planches, fait sécher le bois dans un séchoir professionnel, corrigé ses mouvements naturels, puis sablé, fini et transformé le tout en table.
Une pièce crée par la patience, l’apprentissage et de beaux souvenirs. 🤍🪵

Eleven team members, eleven unique pens— each one designed, turned, and finished by hand.
It’s always rewarding to see people arrive as complete beginners, step into a hands-on creative experience, and leave with a beautifully crafted pen they made themselves.

Onze membres de l’équipe, onze stylos uniques — chacun conçu, tourné et fini à la main.
C’est toujours gratifiant de voir des personnes arriver comme débutants, vivre une expérience créative et pratique, puis repartir avec un stylo magnifiquement fabriqué de leurs propres mains.

Du peuplier plein d’histoire! L’arbre a dû être abattu car il était trop près des lignes électriques, mais il revit aujourd’hui sous forme de table faite à la main 🌳
