From making the machines to making the pens 👑 🇨🇦 🪵 we had a pretty special day in the workshop with ! 🙌

I recently had the opportunity to welcome 11 members of the King Canada / Einhell team, including their president and sales representatives from around the world, for a private pen-making experience at .

Everyone started with a piece of wood and left with a finished pen they had turned, sanded, finished, engraved, and assembled themselves.

What made this one especially meaningful was doing it all on King Canada lathes. I’ve been using King Canada machinery since the early days of my woodworking journey, so welcoming their team into my own workshop and seeing them create on their machines was a pretty special full-circle moment.

A big thank you to the King Canada / Einhell team for trusting me with the experience!

For years, I focused on one simple goal: creating the best woodworking experience I possibly could.

That meant constantly improving my workshop, refining how I teach, listening to every piece of feedback, and making sure every guest left proud of what they created.

This week, while chatting with family who were visiting Montreal from abroad, we became curious to see how AI would recommend woodworking experiences in the city. Since they had never visited my website or searched for my workshop before, we used their phone and searched for "best woodworking classes in Montreal."

I was excited to see Jonathan Creations appear near the top of the AI-generated recommendations. The summary highlighted the things that matter most to me: the quality of the instruction, the consistently outstanding reviews from past participants, and my perfect 5-star rating with over 100 Google reviews.

It was a reminder that all the small improvements over the years—teaching hundreds of workshops, building a website, earning every review, and continually refining the experience—really do add up.

Whether someone finds me through Google, AI, Airbnb, or word of mouth, my goal remains the same: to give every participant a memorable hands-on experience, empower them to confidently use woodworking tools, and help them create something they're proud to take home.

I'm incredibly grateful to be part of a platform that showcases some of the best experiences our city has to offer. If you're visiting Montreal, or looking for a unique activity right here at home, you can now find my handcrafted wooden pen-making workshop on their website!

Last week I had the opportunity to host a large private corporate workshop for a visiting team from Computacenter during their time in Montreal.

The group joined my pen making workshop as a team bonding activity, where each participant learned to use the lathe and created their own handmade wooden pen.

For this group, I also added a personalized touch by engraving the company’s logo onto the pen boxes, which made the experience feel even more special and memorable for the team.

It’s always an honour to work with companies visiting Montreal and create a unique hands-on experience for their teams outside of the usual corporate setting.

This was my very first lathe.

At 13 years old, while most kids were saving up for video games, I was saving up to buy this second-hand lathe.

Crazy to think that years later, it would become the start of this all.

Fun fact: this lathe is actually made from granite. Does anyone know why? 👀
