The kitchen at Sawmill Ranch - warm wood, soft natural textures, tumbled floors, complementary lines and framing details. KID FRIENDLY. 🙃 Sometimes simplicity is actually more difficult to execute, but it’s always worth the patience and intention.

When you enter Sawmill Ranch you are quickly met by this view, and it stops everyone in their tracks. The goal was to design the furniture to be grounding for the large space, but not take away from the landscape. It’s a wonderful gathering spot for this family home.

Welcome to Sawmill Ranch — a 10-acre family property that’s home to the most wonderful clients. It’s the calmest place on earth and has completely stolen our hearts. This was a special full-scope project, where we had the privilege of leading design decisions from start to finish. We actually shot this home quite a while ago, but it’s taken us time to sit with the footage and piece it together in a way that tells the story. We hope you enjoy these moments as much as we do. More from Project Schoolhouse 🥰 We designed this curved cabinet to keep the aisleway by the stairs feeling open and easy to move through, while also mirroring the soft architectural arches throughout the schoolhouse. Big praise to the shop crew for executing the curved cabinetry and curved door to perfection!

Honoring the vision our clients hold for their home, or the thoughtful direction of a designer, is something we’re deeply committed to. In this industry, it can be tempting to lead with a fixed idea of what should be, but there’s something far more meaningful that happens when you pause, listen, and truly attune to what a client desires. We absolutely love getting to the photoshoot part and seeing their joy!

For this project, the hope was to evoke the quiet charm of an English schoolhouse; open, airy, and grounded in intention. Our role was to design cabinetry that felt not only aligned with the surrounding architecture but as though it had always belonged. It’s a balance we love: merging a client’s vision with the knowledge and craftsmanship of our team.
