This nearly full home renovation, spanning three floors of a handsome century home in Cambridge included cosmetic changes in most living spaces and bedrooms, but grander re-envisioning and renovations within bathrooms, the kitchen and dining area, as well as the third level attic.
The greatest of changes came in the entire relocation of the kitchen to a dated family room which prior to an 80s renovation had been a two-car garage. The second take on repurposing this area resulted in a practical and generously sized space for cooking and baking during family gatherings. An approximate 500 sq/ft floor area, tall ceiling height, and ample opportunity for natural light to flood in resulted in an open and comfortable sense, while dramatic choices in deep blue painted cabinetry and walnut accents brought a timeless quality. Walnut flooring and ceiling beam as well as marble backsplash in an intricate herringbone complete the overall feeling of approachable elegance.
The previous kitchen was partially transformed into a functional scullery / butler-pantry while the remaining area was allotted to enlarging the dining room.
