My name is Brian Yeo and I am a recent retiree from the education profession where I ran an incredibly successful custom furniture course for 28 years at Bracebridge & Muskoka Lakes Secondary School in beautiful Muskoka, Ontario. It was during my years of teaching young adults how to design and build unique furniture that I fostered my own craft and really enjoy planning and constructing furniture
and wooden artifacts that one would never find in a store. All of the wooden furniture in my house was built in my shop. I try as much as possible to use wood derived from the Muskoka Forests. This allows me to build in not only white pine but many hardwoods such as red oak, maple, black walnut, birch, and cherry. As click through my photo albums, you will notice that most of my pieces are what I like to call “one-offs”. What I mean by that is that all my furniture is specifically designed for its intended purpose and then constructed as to the customer’s wants and desires regarding wood species and finish. It is this design process that I truly enjoy whereby I meet with a perspective client and discuss and plan the whole project from start to finish. I traditionally resort back to my portfolio in order to create realistic possibilities for the job at hand. It is a fabulous adventure when I am able to collaborate with a customer and jointly use our imaginations to create a needed piece.
