“These tiny songbirds usually stay concealed high in dense trees, revealing their presence with thin, very high-pitched calls. They pluck small insects from clusters of conifer needles, often hovering briefly to reach them. What a more perfect bird to post for the Canadian winter 🥶🥶

“The regal Snowy Owl is one of the few birds that can get even non-birders to come out for a look. This largest (by weight) North American owl shows up irregularly in winter to hunt in windswept fields or dunes, a pale shape with catlike yellow eyes. They spend summers far north of the Arctic Circle hunting lemmings, ptarmigan, and other prey in 24-hour daylight. In years of lemming population booms they can raise double or triple the usual number of young.”

Meet New the northern wheatear! 🐦🐦

With this bird I decided to try to solder the legs. I was using thicker wire but also very thin craft gauge wire which I wasn’t really happy with. I have to work on my soldering skills as it’s a bit bulky in some parts. I don’t know 🤷‍♀️

Facts: “They forage for insects on the ground in meadows, grazed pastures, and tundra, and perch and sing from prominent rocks and shrubs on their fiercely defended territories. Found across northern Eurasia, this species also nests in Alaska and eastern Canada. These North American breeders undertake epic migrations to reach their nonbreeding grounds in Africa.”
