This morning your Airdrie Firefighters and Class 5 climbed the hose tower equivalent to the World Trade Centre in memory of 343 FDNY firefighters that died on 9/11 and the hundreds that have since died due to occupational exposure.

🚒 Airdrie Fire’s incoming class brings wide-ranging professional experience. Fourteen probationary firefighters will begin with the Airdrie Fire Department on Sept. 8 as part of the department’s second planned recruit intake of 2026.

The incoming class includes people with experience in career, paid-on-call and composite fire departments, paramedic services, the Canadian Armed Forces and other professions.

The two 2026 recruit intakes are part of an effort to fill 25 council-approved positions tied to the Highland Park Fire Station and Training Centre.
