H Ü N D B R Ü T - $420

This was inspired by Brutalist Architecture. Minimal clean lines and sits close to the wall. The wood is Oregon. It was burned then burnished to leave the grain proud then lightly sanded to flatten it off a touch. It was then stained black and rubbed back twice then the gum veins sanded back and stained golden oak for definition.

The stain and coating system is entirely plant based and is rated 'baby toy' safe. Meaning the coating isn't toxic and won't dissolve with saliva. So basically the whole unit can act as a 'licki mat'. You can smear it in peanut butter to give them something to do while while you're cleaning the house and they're annoying you. It does take a month to fully cure and only comes in gloss.

This was a redesign of the 'Classic'. A bit more streamlined and i used the bottom sections of the steel legs i cut off the Mk I version. The timber is Oregon which is burned then burnished to take away the softer grain and leave the harder grain proud. The wood is then primed and given three coats of Porters 'Popcorn White'. Legs are stained black, steel sections painted matt black and the whole thing coated in three coats of satin water based flooring finish. Bowl height is 410mm.

Third version in the series. Straight cut legs. I dropped the height of this unit so the top of the bowl sits at 410mm. Also added a stain to the timber to give it an 'antique' look.

This dog bowl holder was the first one i made for our very tall Greyhound. Prior to that he was using a chair so when i found these steel bench legs at Bunnings i thought it would make for a sturdy & stylish bowl holder for our boy. The timber is Oregon which had a previous life as floor joists in a house. Seasoned and dry. The timber was lightly burned, stained and coated in an oil based satin timber floor finish.

The height it turned out after completion is still a bit high but i have plans to take the middle section out of the legs to make the top of the bowl meet the standing chest height which is the optimum eating position.

Refurbished Modern Industrial Style Steel, Timber & Glass Shelves.

This unit has been refurbished. The original shelves have been replaced with Spotted Gum and the frame recoated in Flat Black. The shelves have also been reinforced with steel flat bars so they will never sag. Suitable for display cabinet for ornaments, plants etc. Timber is finished in a hard wearing water based flooring finish. Dimensions are 940mm(H) x 360mm(D) x 1000mm(W).

Blue Frost #1 - This table was the result of a much needed outdoor table for Christmas and NYE a few years ago.

The wood was from under a house which came from an old pergola that was taken down 10 years or so prior and some old flooring bearers. Both were destined for the firewood pile.

The notches in the planks are from where the rafters sat and were to be plugged but everyone seemed to like them as they were so they were left that way. The hardwood bearers were 'wire brushed' prior to building the frame to clean them up and keep the aged look. Also the entire table was left un coated to keep the raw 'farmhouse' look and feel.

It's been lightly sanded a few times to clean it up over the years and was eventually sold to a friend who always loved the table and also to make way for a new one to be built.
