Earthen Ash does something lovely here.

It softens the whole piece without flattening it.

The colour has that calm green-grey quality that feels fresh, but too cool. Paired with the stripped timber top, oak base and warm handles, it gives these large bedsides a much more grounded, natural feel.

What works so well is the balance.

Some finishes are more about revealing than covering.
kb used Soft Black as a wash here, allowing the timber itself to remain the focal point while enhancing the natural variation already present in the grain.

Light areas stay light.
Dark areas become richer.
Every knot, line and detail becomes a little more noticeable.

The finished result feels softer and more organic than a painted surface, while still adding depth and visual weight.

A lovely piece by .kb, showing just how effective a subtle wash can be when the timber is allowed to do the talking.

Three colours. One very liveable palette.

Some colour combinations stop you scrolling because they’re loud.

This one stops you because it’s calm.

Leatherwood, Weathervane and Earthen Ash sit in that beautiful space between warm and cool, soft and grounded, classic and current.

Some colours don’t need to be dramatic to make an impact.

White Birch is the palest cream with a touch of grey, sitting right on the edge of the white spectrum.

In bright light it reads almost white. As the light changes, the soft grey undertone brings just enough depth to keep it feeling refined rather than stark.

It’s a colour that works quietly in the background, allowing beautiful materials, texture and styling to take centre stage.

Some pieces don’t need to be oversized or dramatic to completely change how a space feels.

This sweet little table was an extra piece left with me after refinishing a matching set for a lovely repeat client — this one destined for her granny 🤍

And honestly, I think those personal pieces always carry something a little special with them.

A custom black and grey blend created that soft moody charcoal finish without feeling harsh, while the timber top brought the warmth back in to keep the piece feeling grounded and inviting.

The timber was sealed using Wise Owl Paint One Hour Enamel Clear Matte for that silky smooth furniture-grade finish that feels beautiful to touch as well as live with.

Proof that sometimes the quieter pieces are the ones that make a room feel the most complete.

🦉 Some furniture transformations don’t need bold colours to make an impact.

Sometimes it’s the softer shifts that completely change how a home feels.

Kat at took this heavily orange-toned pine setting and transformed it into something light, airy and quietly timeless using Wise Owl Paint Alabaster paired with natural timber tops — and the difference is incredible.

The original finish felt visually heavy and dated. But by softening the timber tone and introducing a clean furniture-grade white, the entire set now feels calmer, brighter and far more versatile inside a home.

Sometimes furniture doesn’t need replacing.
It just needs a second chance with the right system behind it.

This dining setting had already been painted previously, but the refresh completely changed how the entire set feels. The bright clean Snow Owl base instantly lifted the heaviness, while the softened grey-wash top added contrast without making the space feel cold or harsh.

And honestly, this is where so many furniture transformations either work beautifully… or fall flat.

Strong contrast can easily feel too hard in a family dining space. But keeping the white soft and the timber tones muted allowed this set to feel fresh, calm and far more modern while still remaining warm and liveable.
