🦉SOMETIMES THE BEST COLOUR IS THE TIMBER UNDERNEATH.
What a difference.
This console began with that familiar orange-toned timber finish, but Jackie Campbell saw the potential underneath. Stripped back and refinished in a softer, more natural timber tone, the whole piece now feels lighter, calmer and far more contemporary—while still retaining all the warmth and character of the wood.
The simple polish of the original hardware was such a good choice too. Rather than replacing it, Jackie allowed its aged character to sit naturally alongside the newly finished timber.
And once all that refinishing work was complete, she protected it with Wise Owl Paint One Hour Enamel Clear in Matte.
OHE Clear is a water-based, non-yellowing topcoat designed to protect painted, stained and raw surfaces, with the Matte finish giving durability without introducing unwanted shine. It’s particularly lovely on transformations like this, where you want the timber—not the topcoat—to remain the hero.
