🌱Client’s piece 🌱 This set of lovely old drawers were in desperate need of a big old clean and refresh! The old finish bore the scars of numerous stains, scratches, dents and even water damage. The timber underneath whilst definitely a little mismatched in tones, still carried that pretty rustic patina and the telltale signs of a handmade piece that was once made by a father for his daughter and is now on its journey to be gifted between friends to still be loved and useful. That’s why I love these vintage pieces because they bring stories with them and that’s something you can’t get from an IKEA flat pack. Once the old finish was removed and repairs made this entire piece was sealed with Fiddes Hard Wax Oil in Ultra Raw for that true, raw timber look. New handles that are still in keeping with the rustic style of these drawers complete the look. Can’t wait for this one to head off to it’s lucky new home 🌱

Most of the furniture I get my hands on is on its last legs. Weary from neglect, failing finishes, scratches dents and dirt. This piece is definitely not my usual salvage job!
I purchased this lovely silky oak dresser on behalf of a client whom wanted a custom refinish. That client up and ghosted me (please don’t ever question why refinishers need deposits and contracts 😅) but I can’t say I was unhappy to end up with such a beautiful dresser. I put it on my to do list but the more I’ve looked at this piece the more I’ve realised how nice it is as is.
The original finish is still beautiful. There’s no major defects. The original art deco style handles are a little tarnished but still lovely and perfectly intact. A testament as to how well this was looked after is the gorgeous beveled edge mirror that is flawless which is pretty amazing for its age. Even the drawer and cabinet interiors are clean and free of stains.
So for the first time I’m offering up a piece in its original condition. You can purchase this one as is, opt for some minor adjustments like a handle polish or respray OR a full custom refinish! This gorgeous piece needs a new home so please DM for details and pricing 🌱

It’s been a little while since I’ve worked on any simple pine pieces having really gotten sidetracked with antiques lately. These solid bedsides are a mass produced staple of Amart and most Australians would have had similar drawers in their homes at some point. Classic orange stained pine, nothing wrong with them at all, just good solid little drawers. Personally I’m not a fan of that orange stain so these got a more appealing refinish with that beautiful sleek black of Pureco’s Carbon in their silk range. The tops I struggled to find the right rustic sort of stain until I used this gorgeous “English Oak” in Fiddes tinted Hard Wax Oil. This dark brown oil buffed into the pine catches that grain without an overpowering tone.
This pair now hopefully look a little less orange and a lot more appealing and are ready for a new home. DM for details 🌱

It’s no secret I love these little silky oak pot cupboards having done so many of them now but they’ve always been singles. Needless to say I nearly lost my dang mind when I saw this pair!
I’m going to call them “his & hers” because they are almost the same but not quite. Definitely the same maker and details, actually two different species of silky oak (one northern and one southern) so quite different colours under their old stain. Ever so slightly different tops and legs but a nice little pair together nonetheless.
Both had seen some unfortunate repair attempts over the years with bulky hinges on one leaving huge screw holes on the front and a previous sanding attempt had torn through the veneer on the door of the other. In some way I kind of liked the patina and chose to go with a dark stain to play down the damage but not remove it completely. I used Fiddes Rustic Oak Tinted Hard Wax Oil on these - such a deep, rich colour and really nice for that patterned oak grain. I installed new brass hinges replicating the originals, new period style handles and brass magnet catches. The interiors were stained beyond saving so they got a refresh with Fusion’s Goddesses Ashwaganda for a soft neutral feel.
I’m pretty sure I need to keep these just because I never find pairs like this BUT if you really love these and want to make them yours DM me for details 🌱

2025 was the year I had planned to smash out a DIY renovation on my house thinking 6 months max (some day I’ll laugh at that, right now my still ongoing renovations are a touchy subject 😂) and even though I put a hold on most of my usual commission work, I still ended up doing several client pieces, a bunch of my own and a good chunk of my own house 😅. I can appreciate the change in my work since I started and hopefully a change in my skills. Clearly I’ve indulged in a lot of natural timber pieces this year and mostly antique silky oak pieces. I kinda feel like It’s becoming my thing 🙂. These pics are just a sample of my own pieces and I’m amazed I really got anything else done outside of the house renovations. Honestly, the time I did get to sneak off into my workshop just to escape the renovation chaos or kill time waiting on other trades and supplies saved my sanity. I’m forever grateful to those who’ve bought my pieces, liked, commented, messaged and just followed along for the ride. Looking forward to a new year of furniture adventures and maybe one day finishing my bloody house 😂 Big love to you folks 💕🌱

This amazing old wardrobe had some years under her belt and was in dire need of a good old clean up and makeover. As much as I I would have loved to have kept her timber, as it turns out what was underneath the old stain was actually not the prettiest timber and I needed to do some big repairs so a paint job was the right choice.
This was my first time using Wise Owl One Hour Enamel and all I can say is WOW 🤩!!
Definitely lives up to the hype - beautiful hard wearing coverage and the colours are divine. This is “Earthen Ash” which is a lovely subtle and soft sage green. I’m pretty conservative with my pieces and I like a clean and classic look and I think this beautiful green achieves that. I did however go totally outside my bubble with the interior choosing this fabulous tropical wall paper feature for the wardrobe backing and drawers tied in with a deep navy (“Inkwell” silk mineral by Pureco). Flashy new brass handles and escutcheon complete the look.
This one is now ready for a whole new life so DM for details 🌱

This old girl had certainly seen some life in her time, had some very interesting repairs (I don’t want to talk about how many 4 inch framing nails I pulled out of this thing) and then found herself stored away in a shed for many years.
My love of Fiddes tinted hard wax oils continues and I decided to try the white for this piece. Honestly you’d never know looking at it but the white oil did tone down the very warm toned silky oak and has given it a really nice matte, very raw timber look finish. I think it suits the character of the piece nicely 🙂
The drawer fronts carried the scars of multiple handle changes over the years and I think these new handles work with the style but also conceal the multitude of holes underneath. The runners were waxed with Wise Owl Furniture Salve in Bourbon Vanilla so they run beautifully smooth. The drawer bases had to be replaced, as did the backing board so she’s all fresh and pretty now 🌸
This piece could easily be used with or without the mirror. It’s could be used as a dresser, small sideboard or hall stand. She’s now ready for a new home so DM for details 🌱

This old girl had sat waiting in a shed for a long time with a lifetime of wear and tear, just gathering dust. I spent a long time stripping everything back from that beautiful silky oak timber to the original handles, determined to restore this old beauty back to her former glory. Fiddes Hard Wax Oil in onyx was used in a rag on rag off method to make that distinctive grain pop and then finished with the satin finish hard wax oil to give it that subtle glow. New brass replica castors replaced the old ones I couldn’t save and the original handles were carefully cleaned and resprayed. This old beauty is now for sale and ready for a new life so DM for details 🌱
